it's saturday. i've been sick since wednesday evening, but all is truly well.
anyway, on wednesday -before i fell suddenly & tragically ill, that is- i checked out a student art exhibit @ the Union… & was promptly disgusted by the amount of copy-cat art: everbody stealin from the music industry…
this one guy actually had printouts of images from Radiohead's OK Computer album, somebody else was pullin offa Maná's Revolución de Amor, & i could not begin to say how many people capitolized on whole dude-with-can-of-spraypaint imagery from LP's most recent: METEORA, which was a good album & it was good imagery, but come on, kiddos!! think up something for yourself! what the heck did y'all come to college & study art for if yas just wanted to rip pop-art offa cd covers!!
but there was also a lotta good stuff, especially under illustration. this one guy had done that famous Napoleòn-on-horse-pointing thing, (Napoleon Crossing the Alps: Jacques-Louis David…), but had him all wooden & held up by strings. the title: You Were Born to be a Leader. absolutely fitting to a university. & sticks it to all the copycats who think they've just dropped a tiger's egg, i think…
