Jervis might not be entirely wrong in comparing Simon to a caged beasty. He certainly has a tendency to pace as feeding time approaches. Four steps measures the length of his glass wall. Four steps turn four steps turn four steps turn, his shoulder just rubbing the glass ( Read more... )

There's a stop before he makes the rounds. Walter goes to the men's room to wash his face and take a few deep breaths. He doesn't like going to the high security wing anymore. He never liked it, but it's getting harder and harder not to hand out the punishments he thinks they deserve. Thugs on the street are getting the beatings intended for this particular gallery of rogues.

He finally rolls the cart into the hall. Several, identical covered plastic trays piled up. One vegetarian for Harvey and one decidedly not vegetarian for Simon. Walter hates the smell of it. He hates the sound of the cart, now. Hates this hall...
His head is down as he enters and his voice a low growl.

"Dinner. Move the the backs of your cells."

Those poor thugs.

Simon smacks the glass when he sees Walter, grinning. Dinner! Obedient (mostly), he moves to stand against his cot, though he's bouncing on the balls of his feet. Too much energy for this small a room.

Oh, God, but that means getting up. Ugh. Getting up, and then his reward is tofu.

Harvey sighs, dragging himself up off the bunk -- leaving the headphones laying there -- and doing as he's asked. "What have we got tonight, Walter?"

To the back of the cell, the back of the cell, the baaaaack of the cell. She's still pretty bouncey on this medication, but it's starting to taper off at least. "Aye-aye, Wally!"

Taper a BIT.

"It hardly matters what it is. Or who, in Simon's case. It's drab and bland and awful and half-cold. Same as always."

Jervis sits on his cot, moping.

At least Harvey still shows basic respect. The rest are scum. Walter finds Simon's enthusiasm sickening, as well as Jervis' sense of entitlement.

"Chicken alfredo. Herb potatoes. Green beans. Cobbler. No chicken in yours, Mr. Dent. Same, otherwise, I think."

He'll just ignore the others. He won't let them bother him. Harvey get's fed first. Then down that wall, across, down the other. Systematic. Mechanical. He just needs to get it done.

Simon will wait. Impatiently but he will.

But not quietly. "Is mine an Alfredo too? Alfred? Manfred? Danford? Dan?"

See what politeness gets you? Your food about 30 seconds before everyone else. "Thanks, Walter."

He sits on the bunk with the platter, and digs in. Mouth full, when Simon starts making his jokes. He rolls his eyes, and rolls up a sporkful of noodles.

Harley makes a face, not so much at Simon's jokes. More at the chicken alfredo. Ew. Chicken and white stuff.

"Hmph. Just as expected. Dreadful."

He will be poking at it for a while, but he'll eat. He's a pain, but he's not stupid.

Walter's face reddens as he tries to lock down his anger. Simon is trying to get to him but he doesn't need to give in. He can do this. He can just rush through, handing over the meals and get out of this awful hall.

"Mess swept from abattoir floor. Same as other farm swine."

He wrinkles his nose in disgust as he takes Simon's tray from the cart.

One step forward from the back of the cell. Half a step. "It is pretty awful. I mean, really." His voice is... pretty calm, actually. Fast, but calm, waiting for Walter to unlock the door and come in. "Nothing's like fresh. I'm glad you got home, really. Dan's a nice guy. I didn't know, but I'd have regretted killing him. You have a nice kitchen. I was going to have a cooked meal for the first time in a long, long time."

Eddie wakes up around now. Hmwhat? Stuff's going on? Food? He is so groggy, as he sits up, disoriented.

Dinner and a show, apparently, tonight. Harvey dabs a little alfredo sauce off of his jaw, and shifts so that he can see across into Simon's cell.

She's going to perch on her cot now and eat the potatoes first, okay? Because that chicken looks gross.

He has to squeeze his eyes shut for a moment, hand on Simon's door lock. Walter growls but, damn it, he can do this it's just his job. He can't show weakness like this.

"Shut your mouth, scum, or you won't be eating anything. Daniel is a good man and stronger than you think.... Would have beaten you himself if I hadn't."
Every muscle in his body is visibly tense. The tray rattles in his grip as he offers it over to Simon.
