Along came a Spider...

Oct 09, 2008 23:27

The truly terrifying thing is that, when he truly wants to --has to-- Spider cleans up rather nicely. In the suit that was purchased for him to wear to award ceremonies and horn rimmed glasses over his blood shot eyes, he seems almost like a normal human being. Kelly is a very believable college grad student, carrying her digital camera and his digital audio recorder.

The girl at the front desk is new. Spider had just about counted on that. There are fast food chains with slower turn-over than Arkham. He's all business and an effected habit of pushing the glasses up his nose every few sentences as he explains their situation to the woman. He called ahead, but goes over it all again. They're here to report on the state of Arkham and its need for public support and donations. They want to show the good it does and how much better it could be if they just had the funding they deserve. It's for a school project, but they hope to see it published.

An orderly is assigned to show them around. Once they get a good way away from the front door and he's nearly bored the man to tears, Spider asks to be shown the restroom. He tells the orderly there's 'something wrong with the toilet that he should see'. When the poor orderly enters the restroom, he's knocked unconscious and tied up in the handicapped stall. Spider takes the man's clothes and keys, folding his own suit into his briefcase.
"Thanks for the tour, shitstain."

Now, they lead their own tour. He steps out of the men's room, holding the key's high.
"To the isolation ward! I can smell the truth calling us!"
Mostly, he knows that anyone being kept on their own should be easier to question and have more to say.
