The Triumphant Return, p. 2

[21:19] notatvcharacter: So it was Dr. Crane behind Nigma's trouble while Luke was away. Wonderful. McCoy feels obligated to speak to the man, then, just to see what he has to say about the whole thing. To see what -he- has to say about the matter. The things he's heard about Crane, the way he continues to treat the employees and patients here... it should be an interesting.
It's a private room, of course, and the guards are asked to wait outside. No need for that kind of security, not for a simple talk between two doctors.
[21:23] terrorofgotham: Dr. Crane is, for his part, irritated at being interrupted in his reading, until he sees who he's going to talk to. Then, his gaze is all sharp interest. He attentive, even if he's quiet while he's brought here. He doesn't look especially doctorly, in his orange uniform and cuffs.
[21:34] notatvcharacter: "Doctor Crane." Luke smiles, and gives a polite nod in greeting. "I hope you'll forgive the interruption. I just got back from my leave, and it came to my attention that I might want to speak with you."
[21:38] terrorofgotham: "Ahh... good. Dr. McCoy? I had hoped to have the opportunity to meet you." This man doesn't hope to see anyone, but he is curious. His vague smile isn't in greeting, just amusement.
[21:49] notatvcharacter: "Yessir. I heard you've been working on one of my patients while I was gone." Luke is just going to keep smiling, keep this nice and friendly. No reason not to, yet, after all. "I heard from him, about the whole thing, but I'm interested in hearing what you have to say, too."
[21:55] terrorofgotham: He almost laughs. He starts to, but his expression becomes serious, instead. "Your patient," he says, drawing out the words, musing over them, gaze drifting. "Did not weather your absense well. We made some progress on unfortunate truths, which should spare you his resentment in exposing them."
[22:20] notatvcharacter: "A little more bluntly than I would have preferred." Hah. "But you did have some good points, and a particular one or two that I hadn't touched on before. I'm curious how you would have proceeded if I'd decided not to come back."
[22:25] terrorofgotham: "He has to be pushed out of his comfort zone, or he will very readily retreat to his usual patterns. It makes me wonder how familiar you've been with him. He was awfully keen on rescuing you... Oh, I'm finished with him. He isn't an especially complex case. I would imagine Dr. House would have either reassigned him to Dr. Giles, or he would have been left to the interns, like he was after Dr. Drake decided to take her patient personally."
[23:10] notatvcharacter: "Ahh. A love 'em and leave 'em type, then." The smile gets a little smug, like he just had something confirmed. "Thank you for indulging my curiosity, then, doctor." He's not half as stupid as to rise to the bait of how familiar he's been with his patient, not with this man. His fears and weaknesses -- and he does, certainly have them -- won't be found there. "I can have you sent back to your room, unless you'd like to talk about something else. I know it's not exactly thrilling scenery, in there."
[23:16] terrorofgotham: That reaction is somewhat less amusing, but at least the man knows when to put up his armor. Maybe he'll last a while, here. Jonathan glances slowly to the door, affecting boredom. Right, like he'd want to talk more. "I have nothing else to discuss..."
[23:21] notatvcharacter: Maybe he will. He's done pretty well so far. "Alright, then. Thank you for your time. While I've got the orderlies' ears, is there anything I can get you, maybe swing by the library?"
[23:26] terrorofgotham: "Hmm... I do appreciate that, but I have all of my books for the day. Thank you." At least for that, he sounds mild enough.
[23:39] notatvcharacter: "Not a problem. You have a good day, hmm?" He rises, pushing his chair back in.
