Looking out for Luke's 'good' patient.
06:32:27 * Eddie 's fill-in doctor, one of the interns, expressed the concern that Eddie's behavior had changed rather quickly, in the past few days, as he had suddenly refused to make much conversation at all.
06:34:03 : Hoping it's simple Eddie having decided that his fill-in doctor was just not worth his time, Giles gets permission to take over a session. He brought a chess board.
06:38:54 * Eddie 's temp doctor had that concern, and while hadn't quite taken it personally, was curious if he did anything to set it off which he could fix in the future. Eddie is sitting quietly in his cell, writing, which is not at all unusual.
06:44:40 * Giles assured the younger doctor that he probably did nothing wrong other then /not/ being Dr. McCoy. Standing outside of Eddie's cell now, Giles wonders why he really thinks he'll get any other reaction. "Good afternoon Mr Nigma. Are you ready for todays session?"
06:48:12 * Eddie looks up and sets his notebook to the side, but not so far away that he can't fidget with the binding. "Good afternoon." He doesn't smile. This isn't his fill-in doctor. Is Giles his doctor, now?
06:58:31 : "Dr. Crusher asked me to fill in today. I brought this " He shows Eddie the chess game "to help break the ice a bit. Are you interested?"
07:03:34 : "I, ah... not right now, no." He looks, for a moment, worried, but shrugs it off.
07:08:28 : "Well, would you rather have your session here, or in a therapy room?" Giles is trying to go with what Eddie is comfortable with, but will put his foot down.
07:09:45 : "I'd like to go to a therapy room, if that's all right?" Please get him out of this cell?
07:11:25 : "That's fine." Signaling for a guard can happen. Eddie doesn't need nearly the amount of security and gear Giles normal patients need. It's a bit refreshing.
07:12:15 * Eddie deals with whatever security measures are used for him with passive good behavior. He's good, yes! Take him out of the cell!
07:22:48 : Out they go! As they walk to the therapy room, Giles keeps an eye on Eddie. "Would you like anything? Water or juice?" Giles might be trying to get on Eddie's good side. He's McCoy's patient, after all.
07:25:09 : "I would like some juice, thank you." He walks along, head down, glancing about as they go.
07:28:39 * Giles can get some juice. He excuses himself to go get an orderly to get some, and when he catches up to to Eddie and the guard, they're at the room.
07:30:59 * Eddie is quiet while waiting with the guard, and then he takes his seat and watches Giles expectantly, with his hands clasped together. "Thank you."
07:34:14 : "Your welcome." Giles smiles at Eddie, and nods to the guard that he can go. Taking his own seat, now. "How are you doing, Eddie?"
07:36:10 : "Well, you know... I'm here." He gestures a little, just lifts his fingers slightly.
07:37:08 : "Yes, but other wise? Dr Crusher was concerned that you've gone quiet in your sessions. He hopes he hasn't done something wrong."
07:39:35 * Eddie says, "No, he hasn't done anything wrong. It's not a good time of year to be here, really."
07:42:48 : "That is true. Dr McCoy will be back soon, though. That might make things easier to handle..."
07:49:46 * Eddie slumps back into his chair, with a sigh. Then he looks at Giles, hopeful, but doesn't say anything.
07:57:59 : "Well, at least a little easier to handle." Giles tries to smile reassuringly, but he knows Eddies smarter then that. "Do you want to talk about anything? I know last time in group was difficult for you." Damn right it was 'difficult'.
08:00:29 * Eddie flinches, after a moment's consideration, then shrugs. "If it's all right, I would rather stay in my cell than do group with... with him. I know I don't have library privileges, and I'm not asking for the arrangement before I escaped."
08:09:21 : "I can arrange that. Truly, if I had any idea they planned to bring him in..." Giles is /very/ annoyed about that. "Luke will probably do something about getting you more privileges. Despite how it feels right now, coming back voluntarily does make a difference."
08:14:35 : "Than you. I would appreciate it. Well, it really isn't clear, at this point, if I'm going to be reassigned another doctor, but... that's... that's..." Does he have to make the lie true? What is he supposed to do? Be a liar?
08:26:26 : "I can't do much, not being your primary doctor. I can put in a suggestion but it will only get set aside for Luke when he gets back." A look of concern. "Why do you think you'll be reassigned?"
08:28:54 * Eddie looks away. "It doesn't matter." He better go with it, make it true, or... no, no, no, that didn't even sound true, at all.
08:33:15 : "It does matter. I know you enjoy having Luke as your doctor. You trust his opinion. And that's important in your care."
08:38:05 * Eddie keeps his gaze away, and begins to wring his hands. Of course it's obviously not true. What is he supposed to say?! He's breathing faster, trying to hold back his reaction.
08:48:53 : "Eddie, please. It took a lot of courage to come back here. You want to get better, and deserve to have every opportunity to do so. You don't need to worry about asking for things to help."
08:53:45 * Eddie shuts his eyes and lowers his head into his hands. "I don't... I..."
08:55:23 : "You don't what, Eddie?" Knocking now. Eddie's juice is here. "Ah, yes. Thank you..."
08:56:41 : "Care if he's... reassigned, I don't care." He jumps at the knocking but doesn't look up to see if its his juice.
09:04:33 * Giles sets the juice in front of Eddie with a look. "You don't? Because I'm positive he will be /very/ upset to be reassigned. You're most of the reason he's here."
09:08:24 * Eddie lifts his head to free his hands, to pick up the juice. His hands are shaking. He doesn't reply.

09:32:42 * Eddie squeezes the cup, crumpling it, and still does not say a word or open his eyes.
09:39:58 : Oh, well this is just going /fantastically/. "I'm sure this is unpleasant, and if you simply don't want to speak with anyone but Dr. McCoy, I can advise Dr. House to allow you to remain in your cell until his return."
