No one ever expects the firebombing
Peter Parker and his aunt have never done a thing to the Joker. Hurting them isn't all that funny or useful to him. Normally, they would be mostly safe. However, he's holding a real grudge against The Riddler for shooting him. That grudge is going to be taken out on any friends and family he can.
A group of three men have been sitting around the block from Peter's apartment for well over an hour now. They finally get the green light and round the corner to pull into the ally beside the old apartment building. One man stays at the wheel of the van while the other two climb out and split up. One goes inside the building, pulling his clown mask on as he goes, and makes his way to Peter and May Parker's apartment on the fourth floor. The other has a similar mask on as he climbs the fire escape of the building just opposite Peter's. He gets up even with the apartment's windows. Each man carries a messenger bag. the one on the fire escape pulls a gasoline filled bottle from his bag. He lights the thin fabric that blocks up the opening of the bottle and tosses it through one of the apartment windows, then lights another. Ready to toss a total of four before hurrying back to the van.
Meanwhile, the man outside the front door takes a bungee cord and tightly connects the apartment's door knob to the one across the hall. Then he throws his own molotov coctail to set the door itself ablaze. Another to send fuel and flame under the door and then he runs to make his way back outside, drawing his gun as he goes.
