Aw, reunions.

Someone has to supervise all visits. Well, technically, that someone could be a guard, or an orderly, or any of the semiadminstrative minions of Arkham Asylum, but maybe this visit needs special attention ( Read more... )

There's a feeling of animosity that develops for old places of employment. Especially when the separation wasn't amicable. For Geoffrey, the wounds are still fresh and he doesn't want to have to deal with the new staff... The new superintendent manhandling his pretty asylum.

Eddie should be grateful for Geoffrey coming at all. More so that he doesn't just scream in frustration and leave when he finds that Dr. House will be present for their whole visit time. Instead he just takes on a very stiff pout at the news and isn't sure what to talk about. Not with company.
"Well, this is awkward."

Eddie is cooperative all the way here. Oooh, walking around outside of his cell and everything! It's a great day. Except for House being here. He likes House just fine... but is this really necessary?

So, now he's sitting in the visiting room, with his wrists held together and a vague smirk.

"Yeeeah, pretty much awkward."

"Like I make things any more awkward than Johan McNightstick." But just for them, House pushes his seat all the way back to a corner. Skrraaap

"Pretend I'm not here."

"Well, none of them have my job."
And it is still his job, House. You're just keeping his seat warm. Also, the orderlies and guards barely count as people to Geoffrey, so they're much easier to ignore.

He exaggerates a sigh and settles into his chair.
"I was formally acquitted. So, no more lawyers and court appearances, or any of that...awfulness. So, I can visit now. If they have a problem, it would be double jeopardy hmm?"
He smirks, but doesn't really find it very funny. He lost a lot in a trial he won.

"Well, good. Now that you can visit, you can continue to not help me get out of Arkham." He clasps his hands because any other gesture would look dumb. "There isn't too much to say. I have an actual therapist, now, and I'm on the rest period for the first round of drugs. I don't do group therapy any more, and I'm bored out of my mind. How are you?"

He does ignore House, or at least, he doesn't look away from his friend.

"Geoff here should meet your new shrink. He's fun."

Yes. Ignore him.

There's a short glare at House. Interference is not appreciated. Ignoring.

"I have no job, and so I have nothing to do with myself. My father says that I'm a failure. So, apparently my defense attorney was a parting gift. My credit cards are dead, I no longer have access to his money, and soon I won't be able to afford my apartment. ...Also, I'm bored out of my mind."

He pauses.
"Do you like your new therapist?"

"Maybe you should meet him. He is pretty fun, thanks, peanut gallery, except that he got me to agree to doing the worst homework before he told me what it was. He's clever."

This expression isn't amusement, it's affection. Maybe it could be mistaken for the former. Maybe he's trying to pass it off as the former. "Ah, the jerk. Is he out of town, now? You'll find something else, though, hm? You're clever, too."

He props his chin on the cane, watching them both. Mental note to review Luke's notes. "I hear the zoo's hiring."

"Ha! He got you to agree to things without details? And just what ~homework~ did you agree to?"
While he's very pleased that Eddie has a clever doctor, there's a twinge of jealousy stirring. He liked being the only person Eddie was so tolerant of.

Geoffrey chooses to interpret most pleased expressions as affection for him. He is very well liked in his head. "Father never bothered coming in person. Mostly he sends memos or has his staff talk to me... They're gone, though. And I ~know~ I'll find something. It just won't be worth my time..."
He sighs heavily and scowls at House's suggestion.
"Zoos attract children."
Which is a clear fatal flaw.

"I'm to write down reasons why people, specific or otherwise, wouldn't like me." He rolls his eyes, like this is such a ridiculous notion, but oh god, now he has to think about it. It's the worst puzzle ever.

He's so glad Geoffrey's here. Finally. If no one else, Geoffrey can be relied on for approval and attention, right? Now that he's visited, he'll visit more often, right? He fidgets with the cuff.

"You don't think you can make work and money worth your time? Gawd, don't work at the zoo. That's terrible."

Man, what he'd give to have their situations reversed...

"Ooh. That is awful homework. Tough, too."
Because good, smart people like Eddie just fine. It seems like it will keep Eddie busy and interested, though.

"I'm at my very best when I'm organizing and overseeing incarceration. It's what I do. What I've been training to do since I was five. ... I'm not sure what else would be challenging enough. Anything else would be so ~boring~..."
Unless he took up Eddie's line of business, mind... But that would just be wrong.

He is not very interested in this homework. He would rather his doctor have smacked him in the head and be done with it.

"Which is why whatever you come up with is bound to be awesome." Go on, go off the deep end. Build crazy stuff. Trap people in it. "So! You're going to keep me updated, huh? Viiiisit more."

"Eddie here doesn't get any other visitors. Pretty much makes you the light of his life."

You... are not helping, House.

"Of course it will. It's just so annoying having to worry about this. I had everything so set."
His daddy would just hand him a prison and he would work there forever. Now what is he going to do? He was blindsided with an asylum instead and then the local morons in costume fucked that up for him. Present company excluded.

"I'll visit more. I need someone to vent to, and I doubt anyone else will tell me how things are going here. They're going to ruin my security system. I just know it."
Right. Ignoring House. Totally ignoring him. Though...it is nice to be the most important thing in someone's life.

Eddie glances over at the guy they're pretending isn't here. "Aw, are you ~jealous~, Dr. House? You can still come and talk to me, you know." He turns back to Geoffrey and whispers loudly, "He's feeling left out. Poor guy. You know how stressful this job is, though."

He smirks, and raises his voice, pretending to be annoyed. "You'll visit because you want to visit. You can ~probably~ get updates on the security system, though." If he earns it. Haha. "So far, I've determined that a serious illness serves as an excellent deterrent to escape. One should conclude from this that the Joker should be fed asbestos."
