It's been quite a while since I've had a bit of spare time to sit and type AND actually felt like writing something. It's a sometimes rare combination, but the two do occasionally come together.
Today was nice, sleeping in, dog walking, getting tossed around in the park for a while (which was really nice because of the lack of rain and mud), dropping off a small load of boxes at the new place and seeing Malloreigh. Then food, a little packing and a little kicking around the house.
I'm reading The Renewable Energy Handbook that we picked up at the Ep!c sustainable living expo yesterday. We weren't there for a long time, but long enough to see all the booths, pick up some pamphlettes and talk to a couple of people. Some of the things were pretty interesting, like the vacuume tube solar collectors designed to work efficiently in cold and cloudy environments (like say.... Canada) and the roofing shingles made from old car tires. Some of it was kind of impractical, like the bamboo plywood, which is fast growing, cheap and sustainable and selling for $320 for a 3'x6' sheet. Hmmm...... There were also some things that struck me as silly like showing off the "carbon neutral" Porsche SUV. Very down to earth. Bah.
Work's been going fairly well recently, with the exception of the stupid weather. Between rain, hail, snow, high winds and cold temperatures, the outdoors hasn't been the most pleasant area recently. And it's March dammit. This is not right. Oh yeah, and on Friday they tried to get us to move a 2500 lb, 25' high tree. To a backyard. On a little pallet jack. Ridonkulous.
It's been busy. Sometimes I'm amazed at how tired I am by 10pm. I don't turn old till later in the week. I should still be an unstoppable party animal. Or something
