"My dad. I visited Fat Charlie." His voice is calm but his eyes are raging.

She holds her arms out to him, and seems entirely unsurprised about the news.

He takes a deep breath, then takes a step forward and holds her tightly. He doesn't shed a tear, but his breathing is irregular and his hands fist in the back of her coat.

He doesn't wonder how she knew.

"...Spider-hon?" Victor said softly, her brow creased with worry.

Spider sits on a lazy chair, one leg pulled up to rest his chin on. "I talked to Fat Charlie."

She rested her head on the arm of the chair. "Yeah?"

His hands snakes over to hers, and holds it tightly.

"Yeah. And he told me some things." He swallows heavily. "S-such as...that my dad's dead. Such things. You know." He takes a deep breath.

"Talk to me." He moved to Spider's side and wrapped his arms around him firmly.

Spider rests his forehead on Jake's shoulder and sighs deeply, his arms slowly coming to rest around Jake's back. "I...I don't want to cry. I'll cry if I tell you."

He snaked his arms around Spider's waist. "You need to tell me. But I'm willing to wait."

"I know..." He rubs his forehead against Jake's neck a bit, then draws back.

"It's not a thing you have to wait for. It's just...my dad died." He looks like he's forcing down tears again, which would be pretty accurate.
