I absolutely LOVED this movie. SO MUCH
If you haven't seen the movie yet, the brief plot summary is as follows: Verona (Maya Rudolph) and Burt (John Krasinski) are an unmarried couple in their thirties, who are expecting their first child. They live in Denver close to Burt's parents, since Verona's parents had passed away. They thought their life was going great until they found out that Burt's parents were leaving the country for two years and would not be there for the birth of their grandchild. Verona and Burt decide to go on a road trip and travel around the U.S. and Canada to find the perfect place to live to call home and bring up their child. They travel to Phoenix, Tucson, Madison, Montreal, and Miami where they either have relatives or friends living. Along the way, they are also looking for the perfect family as a role model for them to follow in raising their daughter. As with all new families, they discover their own way.
It was simply fantastic and I loved it.
Burt: Verona, this is like Casey Jones...or Thomas the Train. Hey, you know what? We might see some buffalo!
Burt: I'll always love you. Even if you gain so much weight that I can't find your vagina.
Burt Farlander: Is your tilted uterus a secret?
Verona De Tessant: Yeah, my tilted uterus is a fucking secret!
Burt Farlander:Oh really, you fucking bitch! Your fucking uterus is a motherfucking secret? Well, fuck you! (excitedly listens to baby's heart rate)
I seriously almost died when this scene came on. Beckett is the little boy and his mom is trying to show off how smart he is.
Beckett's mom: Tell the nice lady what you know about babies.
[hesitation]
Beckett's mom: No, go on, tell the nice lady. ...Beckett, you're being rude.
Beckett: Babies like to breathe, and they're good at hiding it. I put a pillow over a baby. I thought she wasn't breathing, but she was. She was sneaky, but I'll try again.
Burt Farlander: Do you promise to let our daughter be fat or skinny or any weight at all? Because we want her to be happy, no matter what. Being obsessed with weight is just too cliché for our daughter.
Verona De Tessant: Yes, I do. Do you promise, when she talks, you’ll listen? Like, really listen, especially when she’s scared? And that her fights will be your fights?
Burt Farlander: I do. And do you promise that if I die some embarrassing and boring death that you’re gonna tell our daughter that her father was killed by Russian soldiers in this intense hand-to-hand combat in an attempt to save the lives of 850 Chechnyan orphans?
Verona De Tessant: I do. Chechnyan orphans. I do. I do.
GAH I LOVE IT.
And in other news, still nothing from my interview. Blegh. I'm ready to be done with hallmark. Completely and forever.
And with that, I'm out. Later all.
