Yep. My one cold of the season has arrived. I'm not very congested but I could give Stevie Nicks a real run for her money. Even so, she needs a back-up singer, right? Yeah...this is one of those things that sneak up on you just when your immune system is taking a 2 minute break (damn you, Aunt Flo). Grrr... I took yesterday off. I feel rather guilty about it, I was trying to save my precious days for use/payout next year. I probably would have made it through the day but it wouldn't have been pretty. Thank the gods for Tylenol PM and its various knock-offs...I took one yesterday and dozed between 10 and 2:30. Faaaabulous. Normally, I dislike sleep aids, but decent rest eludes me when I'm sick. I vaguely remember my mother sticking her head in my room and saying something about me looking like a burrito. Granted, I was under my sleeping bag and I had recently explained to her the concept of "taco-ing" ( you know, when you are so tired you just climb onto your bed, not bothering to undress or pull back the covers, and wrap each side of the covers over your body). Of course, I remember her saying this, but she maintains that I said it. Oh, well.
In other news......I'm breaking down and shelling out for a cell-phone, putting my name on the deed for a house, and hopefully getting a car. Not sure how I feel about the house-deed thing...seems almost too grown up for me, somehow. Essentially, it's my inheritance. That situation will be explained a little later, once my poor brain has had a chance to sort it all out and no longer babbling incessantly about various mexican food items.
For the coming weekends: NO KENNEDY CENTER DUTY THIS SATURDAY! Woo Hoo. I will be celebrating the birthday of a dear friend with several other dear friends; saying a quick hello-goodbye to my jet-setting academic godmother; spa-partying with my Latina Sister; attempting to reconnect with absent friends; pondering the future (like always) and hopefully adding a dot on my never-ending course of action; seeing my sister (YEAH!!!!).
It's chilly outside, and I wish everyone was here.
