So, it's a while since I updated (and I need to start my treads differently... I know).
1.The 6th of January is comming and with it my
Vestibular exams (which, by the way, babylon.com says that there isn't a translation for), which means, I'm starting to freak out and thing that
a) I don't know enough
b) I should've studyed more
c) What am I doing here instead studying?
But, I know that's silly; that I did study enough and that's if I don't pass this year, there's always the next (but my friend C says that if I entered Philosophy, I'll enter Linguistics because the competition is small in the latter).
2. Up until last month or so the front area of the city buses used to be reserved to old peolpe, pregnants, etc. Now, they limited the space in the front to one row and everyone has to pass trough the collector or change maker (?) as the old people doesn't have to pay, they have this magnetic cards or something that liberates the turnstile and then they go and sit with everybody else. Well, on one hand now the old people (tried translate "idoso", which is the pc term here but it's giving "elder", but it's kinda weird to write "the elders...") doesn't have to squeze themselves in a limited area, but on the other hand, if it's not easy for them to walk against the movement, and a bigger interval to the door: today, an old lady was getting off the bus, tha conductor didn't notice she was still on the stars, acelereted and she fell on the kerb and hurt her knee. Well, in the end, the conductor got the lady, put her on the bus again and went a bit off the route to deliver her at her house.
3. I hate to go to the beach. I really do. there's nothing worse to me than lots of sand, salt water ans an scalding sun. But that's my familie's favourite place to pass the New Years, so, as I don't have a choice I had to go and spend money on swimsuits, clothes to wear on the beach (apparently, jeans, black t-shirt and Converse doesn't do the trick), etc. Which imposes on me another thing I hate: Downtown at Christmas time. Not that the place is the Heaven most of the year, but around this time it's everyone and their mother's vision of hell.
4. While searching for a picture (which I didn't find)to illustrate the point above I found these two , very cool, things:
a) A video about my beloved city (the music is about how made of win Porto Alegre is and some pictures relate to the lyrics, but it doesn't matter, does it?)
b) An article about Mario Quintana, a gaucho poet that loved Porto Alegre and is one of the best Brazilian poets evah (=P I fangirl poets, so what?):
http://www.brazzil.com/pages/p24aug99.htm(The whole site is pretty interesting too)
5. I have a Snow Cake poster now.
6. I just want to know how much energy they're spending on
this (
http://g1.globo.com/Noticias/Brasil/0,,MUL212207-5598,00.html).
On the other hand, maybe not (2 million points of light!! WTF!!).
7. Oh, yeah, i made some icons, mostly Emma Watson and Clemence Poesy, but they're mostly experimental ones and I don't know if I'm going to post them... =P
8. And to finnish this off:
What The Holidays Mean to You
For you, the holidays are about emotional connections and bonds. You are happiest being around those you love.
You celebrate the holidays in a minimalist style. You are likely to only give one great present and decorate your house with a few special items.
During the holidays, you feel magical. You love all of the decorations and how happy people are. You like to sit back and take it all in.
You think the holidays should be comforting and relaxing. You don't like the holiday rush... you just like the simple pleasure of the holidays.
Your best holiday memories are warm and intimate. You remember special moments more than gifts or parties.
What Do the Holidays Mean to You? 9. Oh, and do you know that if there's a hurricane you should open the windows of your house if you don't want to loose the roof?
ps: I'm pretty sure that there must be terrible misspelling, but truth be told, I'm really lazy to proof read this, so: sorry!
