I went to the mall to see 1408 movie.
When I got there and bought my ticket I had still some 20 minutes do spare. So, I went to buy candies. In the way, some guys that work promoting things asked me if I had a Visa credit card, for if I had, they were giving some gifts.
As it turns out, it was a campaign involving some credit card's company and some magazine publishers to promote the habit of reading among the Brazilian folks for, according to some research/study or whatever only 8% of the us declared to read regularly (depressing, I know).
The gift was a combo of some past editions of some rather popular magazines, including even some about celebrities and another about cars. Besides that, the campaign proposes a really neat deal: a year receiving three magazines, two of your choice, plus either a set barbecue knifes, a encyclopedia in CD or a biographical book about some Brazilian personality or other. All that for only the price of six months of shipping (6 x R$ 59,90 or something).
So, I was there talking with the guys about this amazing advantages and why they were working in this (they are students that go to paid universities and if they reach a certain amount of contracts the publishers and the credit card companies pay for part of one term of their studies) when I noticed that I was 8 minutes late for the movie and I hadn't even got the candies.
So, I crossed the mall the fast I could (with the free magazines they had gave me weighing in my bag, including the one about cars), but, when I got there, guess what? I had lost the freakin' ticket!
And they don't even make movie tickets like they used to. No, All you get now is a tiny slip of paper like those that we get at ATM machines. No wonder I lost it.
Well, at least now I have a bunch of magazines to read. Who knows, I might discover that I do care for cars, after all.
