delete the poems, but print them out and keep them. it'll be good for you to try a different style. i don't think that what he wants at all is meaningless--he wouldn't be a published, renowned speaker and author and teacher and editor, if it was so. take his advice with a grain of salt, lick your wounded pride, get back up on your feet, and just start to write again.

no the poems are gone entirly. if you didnt like my poems you should have just said so, i would have rather had the truth. i dont think mr. young understands my poems. and i think megans right, poets shouldnt critique other poets but i assume he was critiquing me as an english teacher but that doesnt mean theres still a poet there.
when i read real shit i find it fake, like why would someone want to write about it, why not write about a fanatsy where your imagination can roam free and you can create beauty from simple words that are on a page. everyone can make their own scene and its more complex and colorful then any of the ordinary poems about real shit.

i guess i just dont understand why my work which i held so close to me could be regarded as nothing but meaningless sounds that go well with each other and have no place to be read or to even be critiqued.

i do like your poems, and assuming i was lying is you being insecure because of this critique, which is understandable.

i don't think megan's right at all, and i firmly and utterly believe that it isn't he "doesn't understand" them, or wanted to rip them apart. he is criticising you to make you a better writer; to make you a poet to appeal to people, whose work can be comprehended and if that's not what you want don't give him your poetry. many people write purely for themselves and that's fine. so do that, if you don't want him to criticize you.

and i think it's ignorant of you to say that "ordinary poems" are boring. or to say any poems are ordinary--in saying htat, you are doing exactly what you're so angry about what you feel mr young did to you: you're completely invalidating and misunderstanding any other form of poetry.

im just angery because i thought he would like my poems, from what i heard of him, he said that there are no rules in poetry and that its all expression. stuff like that, i thought he'd be into what i wrote but he wouldnt even show me what to fix, it was left as, just dont do this kinda stuff.
and i will leave my poems for now. <3

he's not an asshole. he's an amazing teacher. i think it's 100% great that andy writes how he wants, but he shouldn't submit his poems for criticism if he doesn't want criticism.

the thing is i didnt submit them for criticism, i only let him see them because i had to give them to him today anyways and i wanted to see if they were what he wanted or not. and it was good i did because i doubt i would have recived any marks for one of them.
