It's been a while since a proper entry - months, even - so I thought i'd update y'all about what's been going on.
I am now Music Editor of the student paper here, The Gaudie, and it's more work that I ever imagined. If i'm not putting my pages together i'm arranging interviews, gigs, and generally dealing with record company types. If it's this much for two pages, next year will be hellish if I get the Editorship...
Was in Edinburgh yesterday to interview/see The Rapture with Weevonne. There was another reporter from Edinburgh doing hte same, so after watching the soundcheck Yvonne and myself were given the lead singer, who's name escapes me, and the drummer, Vito. Vito is a very, very charming and lovely man, and the singer seemed a nice guy too, if a bit shy. Apparently the other two were a bit wanky, so looks like we got the best deal there. After the interview we went to Frankensteins for a couple of pints before heading back in for the gig itself. I really enjoyed myself, although the crowd at the front were arseholes, so we moved back a bit to have a better dance. Sweaty and tired, we then headed to Katie's new flat (which is stunning, by the way) and slept there for the night. Just got back in time for my tutorial today, so it's all good.
The paper's moving offices this week into a great big new building opening tomorrow, called "The Hub". It's still not a Union, but it looks ok. Sandi Thom's officiating, so I might heckle...
Scott - I think the Flaming Lips tickets are sorted, they won't get in touch about it until a week or so beforehand.
Uni's going well so far, Honours doesn't seem too bad.
My writing's usually better than this, I promise.
Oh, and if any of you want to see the paper, just say and i'll send you a .pdf of it.
