Bullet Points

I reckon it's high time I got back to this little chunk of the Internet I call home. Nick's was pretty fun - it was the only time all summer I got to see a lot of the old Heathans. We *almost* hung out afterwards in the rear parking lot of Concord Elementary, which would've been surreal. We ended up in Lindsey's yard, though, which was just itchy.

The last bit of summer "break" was pretty lethargic other than work at the Lone Oak house, but I hung out with the Hayden Bros some...which is anything but.

Oh! Also went to see Joe Jones one lovely Saturday. He'd taken a week and a half off work for Emancipation Day, so I hadn't seen him in a while. I bought some barbecue from him, as I've been promising to do for over a year now. I have to say "Smokin' Joe's" was pretty good if a bit high, but he gave us free drinks and Polish sausage along with it, so hey.

My laptop is indeed now in working order, but Internet Explorer was closing as soon as I opened it...I sneaked around that by putting Firefox on a CD and uploading it to my computer. Pwned, Microsoft.

There were however the troubles that a procrastinator like myself gets into. When I scheduled classes, it seemed like everything I needed conflicted with everything else I needed. Academic gridlock. It's finally managed now, but I won't get to take the Archeology of Religion class that I wanted to.

Monday I hung out for a while in the Curris Center, reppin' the A-Team for the organization fair. Who knows, we may've gotten a coupla fresh fish. Thus begins my final year...

On the second day of classes, you may've heard that a body was found on campus. I didn't know her, but Reese worked with her at Cracker Barrel - Katie Driver was her name. They're not sure if it's a murder or suicide, but either way she left two kids behind. Reese actually was one of the last to see her...pretty crazy way to start the semester.

I went over to Reese's new apartment the other night expecting a party, but there was no party, only a trail of blood. His roomie Jason had stepped on some broken glass...interesting discovery.

The first improv night went fairly well...this time around it seems I'm getting typecast with the conservative roles (Southern minister, homophobic cowboy, etc), as opposed to my original crazy roles last year (demon possessed, werewolf, etc). Hmm...

Gloria's World Eatery is, well, glorious. I ate there two days in a row and had some different Thai cuisine. It's mainly Thai, Japanese, and Mediterranean stuff - quite the blend. I wish it stayed open longer than 7:00.

Friday night I went to a...heheh...foam weapons battle. Yep. I'd never been, so I figured I'd go pwn some face. It kinda reminded me of my first Halo matches - I was fair for a beginner, particularly in group situations, but also tended towards suicide stunts. At one point Jason (Reese's) was opposing me with a sword and shield (same as me at the time). I decided to leap at him, Captain America style, with shield up front and my body elongated behind it. I got in behind him and stabbed him in the back. Pretty epic, especially with the music, but I hit the gym floor squarely with my knees. Kinda hurt. Later, I was running when some guy chucked a spear at my feet - I jumped over it and kept running, turning around to head back towards my side. Another guy picked up the spear and threw it at my head, so I slid on the ground, hit a girl (yes, they were there) in the back with an axe, and kept running. My highlights, those...and to be honest I'm still a bit sore. Nothing like my dreaded frisbee incident, though. ;-)

That made working at the Lone Oak house the next day all the cooler, I promise. I think we're almost done over there, though - and some people have already looked at it, without us even putting a For Sale sign up. Thus shall we lose our cross to bear.
