In a different Light this weekend

Night time event at the University Museum of Natural History and the Pitt Rivers Museum Saturday 19th May 19 (this weekend) 8-11pm, entrance free.
If anyone might want to drop in before another social event, or has an evening free, I found the last one of these very enjoyable:

Tibetan monks performing masked dances
Explore the Pitt Rivers by torchlight
visit the licensed bar on the
gallery of the Museum of Natural History
see the 1933 film Son of Kong
(the lesser known sequel to King Kong - this time with dinosaurs!)
join in mask making inspired by the Butterfly Ball (a story book with  psychedelic illustrations by the Beatles illustrator Alan Aldridge)
visit the luminous scorpions glowing the dark.

Also that night, at The Museum of the History of Science
The Night of Museums / La Nuit des Musées, 7 - 11 pm
The Dark Side of the Moon
This anticipation of the forthcoming lunar exhibition contributes to the annual European festival of museums. It includes music, film, performance and insight. The programme features ‘Ebb and Flow’, a short film by Tila Rodriguez-Past about Rebecca Hind painting the moon; ‘Veiled’, a performance by Holly Slingsby; William Karel's ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’, a remarkable "documentary" on Stanley Kubrick, NASA and the Hollywood faking of the Apollo 11 landing; hands-on activities; and short films and cartoons.
