Written for the "singing" square of my schmoop bingo card.
Author's Notes: ~~Samiel is the name my friend and I have decided on for Lucifer's angelic name (so Samiel = Lucifer)~~
Mainly because I have a craving for Castiel in a brotherly setting and we made this back story up, this won't be the first card written in this version of the past.
Unbetaed.
The Light was shining as Samiel stretched all of his limbs, wings shivering as they ached with that good stretch that his brothers laughed at him for when he mentioned, and rolled over intent on getting some more rest. It wasn't as if he needed any sort of sleep, not like Father's-- humans, but it was still pleasant. And in the distance he could hear someone leading some cherubim in songs of praise, making a slow smile spread on his face.
He had almost dozed back off when one of the most offensive noises he'd heard in all of creation filtered it's way into his head. His eyes opened as he groaned annoyance, thinking he should know it but decided just as quickly if he did he's likely blocked the memory from just how bad it was. His mood not helped when he saw Michael sitting next to him. Looking way too amused and swaying along with the horrid sound that he figured was supposed to be singing.
"What is that?" Samiel demanded as he rose, scowling when his elder brother just laughed and pointed in the direction of the Arc's private grove of Heaven, "Is it too hard to answer me Michael?"
Michael smiled again, in the way that made Samiel both wish to smack him and hug him.
"Of course it is" he muttered but smiled warmly back as his brother caressed his wings with his own. Making a mental note to get some time alone with Michael after he'd squashed whatever was making that sound, he spread his wings and took to the air.

"I don't think that's how it's supposed to sound" Castiel said, voice holding a touch of an whine that Gabriel had no idea where he picked it up but suspected it was probably Samiel's fault. Somehow. Castiel had a bit of hero worship for their brother that would be cute if it didn't mean he spouted off things like 'Samiel thinks-' and 'Samiel said-' whenever he didn't agree with what his caretaker decided.
Gabriel just frowned a bit instead and slapped a wing over his little brother's mouth when he heard the tell-tale start of their brother's name in his voice. "There is no wrong way in Dad's eyes right? So it's exactly how it's supposed to sound"
"Really?" he asked, voice muffed.
"Really really. Now just listen and follow along alright?" Gabriel said with a grin as he pulled his wing back, smiling as Castiel just nodded eagerly now.

He should have known, he really should have known. Michael had been with him and Raphael was often off by himself so who else had access to their area but those two? As Samiel landed, the piping tone of Castiel's voice cut off into a cry of "Samiel!".
The horrid squawking sound cut off as Gabriel shut his own mouth, making a face he's call a scowl but really was more like a pout. "Samiel" he greeted also, but sounded less enthused then his fledgling.
"That was you Gabriel? I thought a messenger would have a better voice" Samiel said, biting back laughter as Gabriel's grace made his wings ruffle up and pulse with annoyance, "Calm down" he added, soothingly.
"I have a wonderful voice" he groused.
Samiel moved towards the pair when he felt the weight of something small hitting his leg and he looked down to see Castiel clinging to him, looking up excitedly. "Samiel Samiel guess what!" he said, "I'm getting faster at flying, you want to see? I bet I'll out fly you this time"
And even with his sour expression, that made Gabriel laugh as he pulled Castiel off their brother's leg, holding the squirming fledgling in his arms. "Hate to burst your bubble baby bro, but Samiel is the faster flyer, even faster then Michael. I don't think you'll be able to outfly him for a while" and added as Castiel's face fell, "But maybe one day?"
"Maybe one day" Samiel agreed as he touched the top of Castiel's head.
"Really?"
"Really really" both Arcangels said at once, making Samiel smile and Gabriel laugh.
Castiel squirmed out of Gabriel's arm, darting off with a cry of "I'm going to go practice then!".
The two stood in silence for a moment before Samiel couldn't help adding "You do sound like a dying bird when you sing" and only laughed as Gabriel smacked him hard with his wings.
