"I miss sleeping on my side," Alanna tells Puff, as she awakens for the third time this morning. The first, Adam had stretched leisurely, squeezed her hand and gone to take a shower. She had been asleep again before he turned the water on. Next thing she knew, he was bringing her breakfast and helping her to get her own shower. Hair still damp, she had crawled back in bed, assuring Adam that she would be fine for the next few hours. He doesn't leave much, lately. Both of them know that it could be any day now.
Puff gives Alanna a look and trills: Sssacrifices must be made. Sacrifices such as Adam's clothing, apparently, as the small green dragon waddles into the living room with clear intent to flame something. She's almost as bored as her Human.
Sighing, Alanna flicks her fingers to start a fire, smooths her hair and hunts through the covers for the book she had been reading late into the night. All without moving from her current position.
It's a pity she can't seem to concentrate on the words.
