Many awesome peoples on my f-list did this, and I want to be at least half as cool by association, SO!
1. Pick 10 of your favorite books or series.
2. Post the first sentence of each book. (If one sentence seems too short, post two or three!)
3. Let everyone try to guess the titles and authors of your books.
1. The night Max wore his wolf suit and made mischief of one kind and another his mother called him "WILD THING!" and Max said "I'LL EAT YOU UP!" so he was sent to bed without eating anything. Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. Guessed by
redbrunja and

2. Once there was a tree...and she loved a little boy. The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. Guessed by

3. When he was nearly thirteen, my brother Jem got his arm badly broken at the elbow. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Guessed by

moderndayportia 5. The boy with fair hair lowered himself down the last few feet of rock and began to pick his way toward the lagoon. Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Guessed by a reader on ff.net!
6. "Now, what I want is Facts. Teach these boys and girls nothing but Facts. Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else, and root out everything else. You can only form the minds of reasoning animals upon Facts: nothing else will ever be of any service to them. This is the principle on which I bring up my own children, and this is the principle on which I bring up these children. Stick to Facts, sir!"*
7. It's a funny thing about mothers and fathers. Even when their child is the most disgusting little blister you could ever imagine, they still think that he or she is wonderful. Matilda by Roald Dahl. Guessed by
redbrunja.
8. Mr Jones, of the Manor farm, had locked the hen-houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the pop-holes. Animal Farm by George Orwell. Guesed by
syl_luvs_silver 9. "So shaken as we are, so wan with care, // Find we a time for frightened peace to pant // And breathe short-winded accents of new broils // To be commenced in strands far remote."**
10. Once when I was six years old, I saw a magnificent picture in a book called True Stories from Nature, about the primeval Forest.
*I wrote out this beginning because I seriously just love it and think it's one of the best beginnings to a book I've ever seen.
**This is a play, but that counts, too, right? XDDD
And, uh, obvious!books are obvious, and that's okay. They are still my favorites. I've loved seeing everyone else's lists!
