Culinary discoveries

The other day I happened to walk by the Donut Plant. I read about it a few weeks ago and was instantly intrigued by their inventive approach to donuts. The original Donut Plant is in Chinatown not too far from my office. I've been avoiding going near it since these days I feel it's best to read about desserts than partake. It seems the Donut Plant had other ideas. It sneaked up on me at its new location on 23rd street as I was heading to the movies. At that point my after movie plans were set. A couple of hours of completely forgettable movie later I was in for a few minutes of unforgettable donut experience. The Plant had only one kind of donuts left... oatmeal... and only about 4 of them. Overcoming my skepticism (with a help of a free sample) I got the oatmeal donut and tea. It was delicious! The dough was cakey with candied pineapple, it was covered in smooth sweet glaze and finished with crunchy oatmeal flakes. If this was their least popular donut I don't want to try their most popular one for fear of addiction.
