Reporting live from Bensonhurst/Bay Ridge

Oct 31, 2012 16:30

Had a slight misadventure today thanks to my brilliant brother (and my own brilliant self too).
We went for a drive looking for gas. After having no luck at a few gas stations in Bay Ridge we kept on going and ended up in Bensonhurst. No gas there either. Only when it became clear that we weren't filling up today did I think of looking at how much gas was left in the tank. Almost empty! It may have been enough to get home to Sheepshead Bay, but going back to Bay Ridge and then heading to Sheepshead Bay would be cutting it close. So my dear family left me in Bensonhurst and drove home. I shlepped home to Bay Ridge tightly clutching the strings of my hood. The weather is not bad today, but the winds are still active and quite chilly.
It was good to see trick-or-treaters out and about. The businesses that were open were ready with bags of candy. The adults supervising the children wore costumes too. Mostly witches and devils. One woman caught my eye since she captured the spirit of Halloween perfectly - she dressed as a hooker. Finally, someone cut through the crap of "sexy pirate" or "sexy cop" or "sexy nurse" costumes and was honest enough to look like what women really mean to look like under the safe umbrella of all hallows eve - street walker :)
