Josie Osborne has made my life awesome.
She said she would be more than happy to take stomachs out of squid and freeze them for me.
I could have cried I was so happy.
But then I had to tell my prof. But when I asked him about this last year he didn't think it would work because the barcode database is not complete. So I wanted to do it in secret. But I can't keep secrets. So I went to his office today and while talking to my shoes explained that there was a mass stranding of squid in BC and I contacted a biologist willing to get me stomachs, and that I think it could make for a really interesting paper.
Bob was actually pretty excited about the idea. He was more into the idea of barcoding the Humboldt squid and getting a voucher in a museum than the stomach content analysis, but he was totally accepting of my idea.
I'm still going to do the butterflies but I want to try doing this just for me to see if I can get a paper out about squid.
Also, it's 3am and I just got home from Barrie...more stories to follow tomorrow.
