Background:
Like most Europeans growing up after the Second Impact, Michelle had a comparatively safe upbringing, but still one where the risks that previous generations hadn’t had to face were common and luxuries were short. Despite the danger and hardship of her home, hearing about the disasters that struck the rest of the world as a child, she grew up feeling both happy for her comparative fortune and sorry for those outside, especially as she grew older and Europe managed to start rebuilding. Following high school she joined the Britannian military, eager to protect Europe from all the strange monsters that kept showing up and attacking. Her military career was not to be, however, as she was snatched up by the military contractor Lefevre Technologies immediately after bootcamp to serve as the test pilot for the Pandora project, based on what information they could gather on Prometheus. After a fully working prototype was finished, the company made the surprising decision to covertly open negotiations with the White Chalice to have the Pandora stationed there to help them keep the planet safe and gather data from a live combat environment.
Personality:
Michelle is in many ways a rather odd one. While she doesn’t hide her emotions in a conventional sense nor keep that classic flat, emotionless lack of expression, her emotional responses are still oddly muted. Instead she has the same responses as everybody else, but they somehow come off weak and vaguely off often unsettling people as to whether she really meant it or is just trying to mess with them. That said, she’s quite eager to do her part to keep the Earth safe and looks up quite a bit to those who are already doing so. The latter part might not be immediately visible, though, as she once again doesn’t express it strongly. Which doesn’t prevent her from immediately expressing that she knows them and what they did upon learning who they are, reminiscing about how much she used to look up to the ones who were active when she was younger. Some might even suspect that she tries quite hard not to seem like a fan and more just like an informed observer.
For all that, she’s still ultimately been sheltered from some of the weirder aspects of life in the post-Second Impact world and has only seen actual battle in tv news with many of the stranger beings toned down considerably. So she tries her hardest to be a proper, diligent soldier serving alongside the various heroes she knows, hoping that it and the technology of her unit is enough to make a difference. When not on duty to do so, she’s surprisingly outgoing and enjoys various team sports, often trying to drag others along with her. When in private, she also enjoys cheesy romance whether in novel, movie or tv series form, either as mindless feel good entertainment or as a source of mockery, depending on her mood.
Unsurprisingly she tends somewhat towards the quieter side, possibly as the cause of her odd emotional reactions, not really having major outbursts nor holding long speeches very often. Instead she reacts to most unusual developments with understated surprise and puzzlement as she tries to work out what is going on. She is, however, quite interested in the original her unit was based on data from, seeing it as one of the more visible examples of the kind of heroism that the world needs.
Capabilities and Resources:
Apart from being quite skilled at piloting Pandora, Michelle’s most notable skill is ordinary military training. It isn’t really anything spectacular, she just completed basic training before being sent to learn piloting instead, but sometimes having a gun and being able to use it or knowing basic unarmed self-defense can come in handy. She’s also a surprisingly skilled mechanic, taking care of much of Pandora’s maintenance herself as it is proprietary technology and Lefevre is quite particular about industrial espionage. Finally, as an official representative of Lefevre Technologies she can at least attempt at drawing on their resources, but as they want to maintain plausible deniability this is unlikely to yield much.
Robot Name: Pandora
Robot Description:
While Pandora is based on data gathered on Prometheus, it’s clear that it is a different unit with a different origin, mostly from all the ways it’s inferior. Lacking both the graceful movements and the organic curves of the original, it’s slightly taller and notably bulkier providing a less refined frame than Prometheus and displaying the straight lines and sharp angles typical of military units. This is largely a product of the extra armor Lefevre added to make up for the decreased mobility, the bulk is the composites of the armor while the angles serve to deflect and reduce the impact of kinetic attacks as much as possible. As a final afterthought in trying to keep the large, easily visible unit safe it is painted skyblue to camouflage as much as possible against the sky and hopefully causing enemies to overlook it for a few extra seconds while it strikes.
Pandora does feature some successes in copying Prometheus, however. Like the original it holds a plasma generator, though it is far less refined taking up more space and having far less versatile effects. Only capable of generating simple fields, the engineers in charge incorporated this into the design of the weaponry of the unit. In addition to being able to put up defensive screens of plasma, both the main weapons of the Pandora utilize these fields. For melee combat it carries a heavy axe that can be coated by a thin field serving to give it extra punch against armored enemies. For range, it uses simple guided missiles, again capable of being coated with a field for just the fraction of a second needed to deliver their explosive payload to the softer inside of enemy units.
Likewise there is a number of ways where it might arguably surpass Prometheus, most notably superior mobility in space. Seeing how many threats, both human and otherwise, come from or are based in space Lefevre equipped the Pandora with thrusters for movement in a zero-g environment. Further seeing the lack of versatility of the plasma generators, the company installed further weaponry in addition to the missiles and the axe, most notably a heavy gatling for short range engagements where melee isn’t desirable and a rifle in case greater precision than what gatlings or missiles can manage is needed.
In a curious turn, Pandora is also equipped with surprisingly advanced sensor equipment, more similar to what you’d expect from a research or scouting unit than for a large, tough fighter like it.
