The Emmys and Monday night stuff

Sep 22, 2008 22:35

Well, the Emmys were not all that great, were they.  There were a few moments, but NPH getting passed over for Piven again annoys the crap out of me.  I hate it when one actor/show monopolizes a category for years.  Urrgh.  Onto the miscellany!

Is Candice Bergen sick or just puffy/fatter?  She looked drastically different from the Boston Legal clips they were showing and she did not look like herself.  I'm worried.  And MTM is way too skinny.  That "Nothing" thing might have worked for Seinfeld, but for the 5 hosts it was dumb.  And I laughed that Heidi Klum was the tallest one in the suit.  Maybe to be a male reality TV host you must be short.  (I've been on TV next to Tom Bergeron in real life and he's not that tall.  And, yes, it was a very long time ago and he was not a national host of any sort then.)  How many dresses did Heidi wear, anyway, once they ripped off the suit (in one of the most contrived pieces of dreck ever)?

I totally saw the truth in Sondra Oh's story about M.A.S.H. and seeing herself on TV, as well as her parents' hopes for her to be a real doctor.   I actually appreciated Josh Groban -- I thought it was fun.  He did a great Cartman voice (you know he's done that in his real life), and the Fresh Prince and the slo-mo running with the same arm/leg were entertaining.  The worst Animal muppet I've ever seen, though.  Ruth Buzzy hitting John Stewart about the head was good, but most of the rest of Laugh-In was very, very sad.  Too bad for Danny Strong -- Recount won all sorts of other things, but not writing.  How exactly does that work?  Amy Poehler was really pregnant; I thought I liked the dress till I saw the print.  And that's about it.

Onto a few random Monday thoughts:

I watch The Big Bang Theory tonight and I laughed.  I like that show.  I find it entertaining.  I thought that Sheldon's joke about having as many nervous tics as a Lyme research facility was funny, as well as the list of minor things his friends know would set him off (you said you didn't like trains; you pronounced the "t" in often).  I especially liked the editing in the laundry scene where he was folding a blue t-shirt and then it turned into a pair of socks inside the folding board and then he started to fold the blue t-shirt again.  Gotta love continuity.

HIMYM -- Thank goodness that Barney is back.  I know people really like him and Robin together, but if he's going to act that way, I cannot take it.  And Ted is still working my nerves.  Like seriously.  Ugh.

OTH -- Is next week going to be all about the crazy nanny?  Does that mean I don't have to watch it at all?  That would be nice.  I did like Brooke standing up to her mom (and going to therapy wasn't exactly a bad idea).  No tears this week, but eyes were rolling, so the universe has righted itself.  Yee-haw!

Well, the craziness of the full-blown TV season is off and running.  As I am sure you are all going to be able to tell.  My apologies in advance.
