A post about TV? What?

I haven't posted in a while, and I certainly haven't posted about TV in a while.  Ah, how our LJ lives change.  Now, of course, no one else is watching some of this stuff, but I need to get it out of my head.  So, a few quick thoughts on the musical stuff on my TV....

Smash --I totally get why this show is dying, but the music I still enjoy.  As for this last episode, could this brother thing with Jimmy get any stupider?  And did Kyle really go home with Tom?  What about the lighting guy?  And how exactly does Julia not hear herself getting mad at Tom for not telling her stuff and not realize that that's why he was mad about reading about her work on Hit List?  Although, I think she was totally right not to be his Plan B.  But ouch, that has to hurt.  As for the Karen/Ivy conflict, it is getting a bit ridiculous.  It is totally not of their own making, at this point.  Between Derek's rebound to Ivy and the plan to bring Hit List to Broadway, everyone else is creating the craziness.  A part of me wants to see one of them win the Tony and bring the other up on stage with her, or something equally smoopy.  I do like it when they sing together, though.  And they are pretty honest with each other, usually, which is kind of nice to see.

Glee -- Iactually thought last week's episode was good.  Amazing.  I like that song by Emile Sande, so Rachel and Shelby doing it together was fun.  I completely agreed with Shelby that Rachel could not sing Barbra.  Thank you for that, Shelby.  But Broadway day care?  Ugh.  The world only needs so many theater crazy toddlers.  I liked the throw back to the first episode with Rachel's audition, but how weird must it have looked to have her looking at people that weren't there?  And Mr. Schu is a jerk.  Shocker.  Real shocker -- Puck is going to make Finn go to class and study!  Also, it looks like Blaine might actually do something to get Sue back at school?  I thought his whole goal in going back to the Cheerios was to get her out.   Ah, consistency.  At least there was a nod to the lack of that when Tina couldn't even remember if she was on the Cheerios or not.

On a completely different note, I saw a documentary on HBO about this American Jewish couple in 1939 who, on their own initiative, went to Nazi Germany/Austria and brought back 50 Jewish children to the States.  It made me very teary.  Ordinary people can be really amazing.
