Drabble the 1st
"I'm surprised you're still here." Gwen sat on the edge of her narrow bed.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Elyan studied her in the firelight. As honest as Gwen usually was she didn't always say precisely what she meant, not when her feelings were involved. She'd always been secretive in that way.
"Nothing I'm just surprised that's all."
"Well I said I would stay for a while and I'm staying unless you want me to go."
"Didn't say that," She looked away from him.
He snorted "Although I hate Camelot. I wish you'd consider leaving."

Drabble the 2nd
"Gwen!" Elyan pulled her into a rough hug. "I leave for a week and come home to find you were nearly burnt at the stake."
"But I'm fine." She said and looked away quickly when he sat her back on her feet.
"No, you're angry."
"I am not." Gwen righted a candlestick. "You couldn't have known that I'd be accused of witchcraft."
Elyan began clearing her half eaten meal from the table.
"No, but by accident or design I was gone when you needed me again. You're angry."
"Elyan I'm really not." She snapped her bed sheet straight.
"It had to be terrifying being locked up and watching while they built you a funeral pyre, thinking all the while that if you really were a witch you could use magic to save yourself."
She faced him hands on hips.
"Even if I was angry it wouldn't make any sense. It's not your fault."
It was then that Elyan realized that he no longer knew how to reach her.
"All right," he closed a hand on her forearm. "I'm glad you're all right," he took a deep breath "If something would have happened to you…"
She smiled then just a little, "But it didn't. Are you gonna help me finish cleaning up?"
"Yeah."

I wrote these mainly as a way of working out Elyan and Gwen's relationship for The Exile. There are several more of them, but these two are my favorites. Please remember to comment.
