-I don’t think it is a coincidence that the X-CIA black ops assassin set up as a patsy for the shooting is an employee of Pope and associates with connections to the white house through Olivia Pope. Fitz was not the only target. Olivia, her staff, Cyrus and Grant’s entire administration were targeted as well. I’m leaning toward Hollis at this point since he seemed to take it personally that Olivia and Verna helped Lindsey Dwyer aka Quinn without telling him. I guess they have to get his permission to take a shit too.
-James what are you doing? I wish we could get inside James’ head. One of the ongoing themes in Scandal is that loving someone is not a a reason to cast off your ethics. In season 1 Hell Hath No Fury Olivia convinces client Sandra Harding to turn over her son Travis for rape even though he could have gotten away with it and she obviously loves him. Olivia herself eventually finds the strength to end things with Fitz because what they are doing is wrong and she questions the relationship and herself about her choices entire time.
So I don’t think that James should not pursue this voting scandal but I would certainly pause if thought my husband had rigged an election. If he breaks this story Cyrus is going to jail, Cyrus’ friends are going to jail, they are ruined. I would pause and I sure as hell wouldn’t adopt no baby with that man. So I don’t know what James thinks is supposed to happen here. Does James think Cyrus isn’t involved? I wish we could get in his head about this
-I didn’t find Becky and Huck’s relationship at all convincing, it was a weak point in the episode for me.
-One of the things I am enjoying about the White House relationship with Hollis is that it is a poisoned tree, a gift that keeps on giving. Multiple arcs some short, some long have sprung from the rigging of that election and it is going to hang over this cast and all its characters for the rest of their lives. We’ve seen how the democratic nominee and his family were affected by this, how he was changed as person. Lindsey Dwyer’s life was destroyed, Olivia broke off her relationship with Fitz because of this and founded Pope and Associates, Billy Chambers wouldn’t have hired Amanda to try and destroy Fitz if he hadn’t gotten elected in the first place and if an election had not been stolen Fitz could have chosen to divorce Mellie(though she probably would have left him of her own accord) and be with Olivia and we would not have woman in the White House that no one truly believes should be there.
-Seriously when you lie to get some shit, you set a whole fucked up future, destiny if you will, in motion.
