Um, the man I told you about said it's all right if you want to speak to him about his lost memories. His name is Kakashi.

And I asked the gods about what connection losing memories has to dying. They said that as long as you want to be revived, you have to pay at the cost of a memory. Otherwise, you stay dead. I also asked them if there was a way to regain those lost memories but there isn't.

Does death here sound so trivial now?

Here I thought it might please your heart to think that death is not such a trivial thing, after all. Given what death typically means, to lose a memory is, by comparison, a minor penalty.

I can't say that I'm pleased either way considering there's nothing to really be pleased about. But I guess. Except that not knowing what memory it is that you've lost is annoying and frustrating. It could have been something important, you know?

So are you doing a lot of research about our situation here then, Professor Hojo?

Of course; I recall you mentioning that you're the only one from your world. Perhaps it might be wise to note the most important memories and retain a document, something you can add to whenever you create or recall an important memory. I have begun to do the same, myself.

I wouldn't say there's a lot, as yet; unfortunately, it's only recently I've thought to investigate the situation, beginning with the sex distribution. Presently, it seems that there are more males than females from the collected sample, by a notable degree.

Yeah, unfortunately. I think there are a bunch of people who deserve to be here more than I do. But that's a good idea! I better do that before something happens to me. Again.

Wow. But what if there were quite a few people who didn't respond? Do you think that would change anything?

Perhaps. It was a significant sample, but there's considerable room for error. I may need to go to the gods themselves for a list.
