I've done that when I cosplayed as Kaiba. Now my hair looks like Drocell's for the time being. I was thinking of possibly bringing him in when I have a little more time to think of his history some. I'll have to fill in a lot of holes since he was only in two episodes and cameoed in 1.

Oh, I've studied the walking puppet for many months. I have his personality and voice down along with his mannerisms and his manner of thinking. I've also come across Silverfoxninja's works on his back story a little. She's not really a popular author and she was in the YGO fandom for a while before she started dabbling in Kuro. She only has that one story though for Kuro.

My concern is not mixing up the fanfiction with the canon.

Yeah, I know the feeling, but if a character's background hasn't been covered you're allowed to do head-canon, which I'm pretty sure you might have to do for Drocell

Interesting fact, I think he's named after one of the demons mentioned in Aliester Crowley's book The Lesser Key of Solomon. Crocell.

That's certainly a nice little tidbit to know when I start working on his app. I may wait a month just to make sure that I'm getting as many facts as I can.

I did a little head canon and a lot of canon research for Willy and Edward. For Willy's youth after his father left him behind, I did some head canon there and it seemed to tie in a lot of loose ends. Maybe I'll pull it off for Drocell and I'll certainly take a look at the Crocell lesser demon. It should be interesting to say the least.

Mm, I thought so too ^_^ I used the same thing for Sebastian, there was originally on the wikipedia entry for sebastian that someone thought that his true demon form was Malphas (also mentioned in the book) so see what you get from it.

But for Sebastian to really work for me I had to do a helluvah lot of head-canon stuff about him

Oh that's right! There isn't much on Sebastian either as far as character history goes and what he really is in his true demonic form. Kudos that you pulled it off so well though I haven't seen much as his powers go.

I think we all encounter that issue when we first start. Honestly, we're our own worst critic and judge.

I have to remember to tone down Willy's intuition greatly in this community. I play him in three others and in one of them, he's a real obnoxious bugger, in another he's rather laid back and in the one where I first started playing him on LJ, I have a little more free reign with his creativity.

I certainly know what you mean about keeping the in-character parts in character but that's the whole part of being a writer. The ability to make things happen with characters and expand on the parts that were left to chance and interpretation.

This is really my first ever online RP thing, the only other one I do is with my friends locally and we just go: if that's the way you play them then fine, let them develop how they develop. Which is probably good and bad in their own right.

Sebby with my local RP group is a lot less cynical, lil more friendly and less obsessed with everything is evil - he's basically just let go and moved on.

RP does do wonders for fanfic writing, that's goes without saying. A lot of it is commitment, interpretation and understanding the elements that make the character so likable to the reader to begin with.

It's a good thing that RPs like this exist! XD
