IC Information:
Name: Sesshomaru. It translates into “killing perfection.”
Fandom: Inuyasha
Timeline: Roughly taken from around chapter 517. Right before he regains his lost arm and receives bakusaiga.
Age: He looks roughly 18 or 19, but he’s actually several hundred years old. (He’s young for a demon ironically, but older than Inuyasha.)

Appearance: Sesshomaru has several forms, but in the Facility he’ll be stuck looking more or less human. His true form is a giant white dog with markings similar to his human face, which he can transform to easily in the anime and manga (but only changes into three times. He seems to prefer looking humanoid.)
Sesshomaru stands fairly tall, pale and long-limbed and elegant. He has a Prussian blue crescent moon symbol on his forehead, directly between the eyes, and two mangenta stripes on either cheeks and on the sides of his wrists, and magenta stripes across his eyelids. These symbols have no set purpose, except for becoming more pronounced when he takes his True Form. Otherwise they seem to be birthmarks. His hair is long and white with a fringe over the eyes, hanging to below his hipline.
His clothing are a mixture of practical and pointless. He has a spiked pauldron that covers his left shoulder, and attaches to the upper section of a curiass. He wears a long flowing sash and customary Japanese obi, and a white kimono accented with red honeycomb patterns and a flower crest at the sleeves and collar. His traditional Japanese pants are gathered at the ankles, and he ether goes barefoot, or wears boots that are flat-pointed and ankle high.
Most notably: There’s a long billowing fur that circles over his right arm and seems to serve no purpose aside from decoration, although he’s used it several times in battle as a prehensile rope of sorts. Due to my own preference, I consider this to be his tail. It’s a popular fan theory.

Abilities: Sesshomaru has been referred to several times by enemies as ‘the perfect demon.’ He’s the culmination of a lineage of two extremely powerful demons. As such, unlike other demons who relentlessly seek out the shikon jewel as a source of power, Sesshomaru has shown no interest in it. His abilities include poisonous claws, which he can spray or apply with direct attacks. He can generate long thin strands of energy from his fingertips that can slice through nearly anything, called an energy whip. When he wishes it, the whips can also carry poison similar to the corrosive acidic quality of his claws. His mokomoko (the fur on his shoulder) can extend to great lengths and use to whip people. It’s organic and appears to be part of his body, and has been seen bleeding outright when he’s injured in both anime and manga - leading to the belief that it’s actually his tail, tucked up beneath his kimono and draped over his shoulder due to it’s length.
He can fly, either by himself or on a glittering cloud of energy, and teleport himself and others over great distances in short amounts of time. Due to his demon ancestry, he has both superhuman strength and speed, longevity, and immunity to diseases, most human poisons, and gases. Sesshomaru is a daiyōkai, which gives him heightened abilities and yokai powers, and as such can transform into his ‘true form’ which is an enormous crimson-eyed canine with white fur. He can also regenerate himself form most injuries. Most, if not all, of his abilities have been diluted due to the Facility.

Personality:

Sesshomaru is a Daiyōkai, a very high-powered and revered level of demon. He’s stoic and hard to read, and very rarely smiles. When he does it’s never for positive reasons, as illustrated when his companion Jaken once muttered that he’d rather have Sesshomaru beat him than smile, since smiling was far scarier. Sesshomaru is obsessed with retrieving the tetusaiga from Inuyasha, since it was the sword of their father and since Inuyasha is a halfbreed (half demon and half human), he doesn’t believe it rightfully belongs to his half-brother. He is cold and outwardly disinterested in most things, and seems to be without a conscience or care for others than himself. However he’s shown several times that he can be compassionate towards Inuyasha, most specifically noted when he instructed Kagome to give the tetsusaiga sword back to Inuyasha after the half-breed was overcome by his demonic side, in order to heal him. (As the tetsusaiga sword has healing powers.) He has a certain ability to convey hints of emotion though his expressions don’t change often, and a very rude authoritative way of speaking not unlike how his younger half-brother talks, if a bit more educated. He occasionally refers to himself in the third person, whether from habit or some sense of royalty is unclear.

History: (How did your character get to be who they are today? Remeember, not everyone will know your fandom. Two paragraphs or more please.)

(His history is long and complicated so this will be a very abridged version, just hitting main bullet-points.)

Sesshomaru was born the pureblood son of a powerful demon father named Inu no Taishou, and an unnamed but equally powerful inuyokai. Due to his bloodline alone, he’s immediately considered a taoyoukai himself. (He’s still fairly young by demon standards, shown when he transforms at one point into his full demon form inside the skeletal remains of his father and doesn’t even manage one tenth the size.)

When Inuyasha, his half-blooded brother inherits their father’s sword the tessaiga, Sesshomaru immediately takes violent offense. Believing himself the rightful blood-heir to such power, he immediately attempts to take it from him despite the fact that it’s been enspelled to where a full-blood demon can’t touch it. His initial motivation seems to be pride and greed, although he claims it should only be rightfully held by one able to fully use its power, otherwise it’s a waste. For this reason he lost his arm fighting with Inuyasha in a graveyard in the remains of his father’s demon-dog body. He tried to use the severed arms of other demons to replace it, but they eventually rot and became useless after just short periods.
He made a deal with Naraku to kill Inuyasha in exchange for a human hand with a shikon jewel shard, in order to wield Tessaiga. However, he later lost that arm and the ability to wield the tessaiga with it, and never did kill Inuyasha. He battles his brother at one point when Inuyasha turns full-demon and loses his mind to the insanity that came with it, defeating him, then in a rare show of compassion tells Kagome to give the tensaiga sword to Inuyasha since its healing powers will return his half-brother to his normal form and self. He claims at one point that he’ll someday kill Inuyasha but only when Inuyasha is strong enough to battle him on a level playing field, but there’s speculation that he only does this in order to put a claim on Inuyasha’s life. IE - no other demon can kill him, to do so would infringe on a pre-existing right taken by Sesshomaru himself. (It certainly doesn’t stop other demons from trying.) At one point he uses the power of tenseiga (the healing sword) to ressurect a man, who creates a sword called tokijin for him, and afterwards loses apparent interest in claiming Inuyasha’s sword. (Really in mun’s opinion, all this mess about swords detracts from the story itself so this is about as far into the swords-fights as I’m gonna go.)

Unlike other demons, while Sesshomaru seeks to gain far greater power, he doesn’t show any interest at all in using the shards of the shikon jewel to do it, which separates him from other demons. During his travels he ends up using the healing-sword tensaiga to bring an orphan child named Rin back to life. On his way to mount Hakurei, he saves Kagome, Miroku and Sango as well, but claims he only did it because he ‘kills people who get in my way.’ He uses this excuse often.

His motivations throughout most of the series are very vague. He claims to hate humans but has an odd habit of collecting orphans, or saving people for no specific reason other than because he did. He prickles up and gets greatly offended when this is pointed out, specifically his apparent attachment to the young orphan Rin (who he takes traveling with him often, but occasionally pawns off on others). At the beginning his hatred of humans is deep and sincere, but as time passes, he begins to tolerate and even grudgingly form bonds to several of them.

Roleplay Sample - Log:

Sesshomaru slowly adjusted his stance, feet braced very lightly on antiseptic stinking floorboards. His eyes twitched to the side, narrowing and focusing on the glowing contraption across the room with some measure of distrust. There were words scrawled on the surface, easily readable from such a short distance. ‘Welcome to the facility!’

To be stuck in such a place was beneath someone like him. This was the fate slotted down for lesser useless demons like Jaken, and it interfered with his purpose. He stepped cautiously across the room and bent down to eye level with the machine, studying it irritably. A small instructional screen popped up, listing out various features, and he skimmed it quickly. A ‘lap top.’ Human technology. Perhaps he could use it to access information on this place and potential escape routes.

The keys were each slotted to specific numbers. He reached out and tapped one, watching as a letter appeared on-screen at the same time. “Hnph.”

What a nuisance.

Roleplay Sample - Journal: (Written in first person, IC, as though it were a journal entry.)

abcdefgjiljlmnopqrstuvwxyz

This is human technology. Flashing lights and uncomfortable keys with lettering, and equivalent to a journal. Give me a pen, human, and a sheet of parchment and I can replicate this easily without the discomfort to the eyes.

Where is this? How dare you rip this Sesshomaru from his business and transport to … this. Establishment.

Disgusting. There’s a medicinal smell permeating everything. What is this thing on my wrist? I cannot remove it.

Questions? Comments? Crazed and creative statements? Those go here.

Congratulations, your application has been approved! Welcome to The Facility!

Sesshomaru has no weapons, and has been nuked, not nerfed. Speed, strength, healing, all down by 60%. He does have poison and his whip, but those are also down by 50%. No flight, no traveling as a glowing ball of light. He cannot change into his demon form, primarily because he will not fit anywhere. General guidelines are here.

There are a couple of things you need to do before you can begin to play:

Set up your character's journal. Guidelines are here. Once your journal is ready, please reply to this comment to let us know it's set up.

Reply to your reservation here and let us know that we can remove it.

Add your character to the taken character post here.

Join a_facility, a_facility_log, and a_facility_ooc. The comms are moderated, so you'll have to be approved. Mods are on duty for the rush on Fridays, so it shouldn't take long.

Check here to see where your room is.

Introduce yourself! Post an introduction on a_facility_ooc and meet some of your fellow players.

After you've done all of that, you're ready to play. Game starts Feb 1, 2009. Feel free to socialize and plot OOC until then. Have fun!
