[James walks up to Kate with a small smile, presenting her with a bouquet of flowers] Happy Birthday.

Thanks, James. [She takes the bouquet and hopefully James is okay with thank you hugs because he is getting one]

[He is and hugs her back] It's quite alright. How's your birthday going?

[artemisaim]

It's going good. I'm surprised so many people showed up. I guess Tommy worked really hard to pull everything together. For once in his life.

[nonmetus]

It's good to have such a good mate, innit? [He laughs softly, glancing around] And 17 is an important birthday, of course we had to show up.

[artemisaim]

Yeah, I guess sometimes he's pretty good to have around. [She just smiles] Is it? It's not really important where I come from. 18 is the big one. Well, 16 and then 18.

[nonmetus]

Ah, well you're American, aren't you? And a muggle. Wizards have it at 17, though I think it's still 18 in America.

[artemisaim]

Yeah, I'm American. And I'm not really sure what muggle means but I'll go ahead and assume "non-magical". We're not considered adults until we're 18. I know it's younger than that in a lot of Europe.

It's alright. I'll forgive you for being American. Not that age matters here, does it? Not like there's a law, is there?

[artemisaim]

[She laughs a bit] Glad you can overlook that then. And I guess it doesn't. I mean, the little kids should still be treated like kids but after a certain age I guess it really doesn't matter.
