ALL WEEK LONG /idowhatiwant gingerbatgirl November 9 2011, 21:57:05 UTC
Wherever Dick is at the current moment Babs is with him, walking along next to him, her arms folded over her chest (her flat chest damn it Facility). She's been helping him as much as she can so far, opening doors for him and things like that. She's probably been pretty quiet so far though since she's busy working over something to do about Joker in her head. And coming up with nothing but that's not the point. She needs to tell Dick but she almost doesn't want to. On the one hand, he needs to know. He's a big boy, he can handle it. But on the other...he's been in such a bad mood lately that she's hesitant to pile more on.

Whatever, she'll just focus on hunting for body parts. Can this week be over yet?

He's been spending a lot of time glancing over Babs' shoulder to watch the network. It was just so much easier to watch the network on a 'berry that was actually in use.

"Penny for your thoughts? It seems like there's a lot on your mind." Hell, he'll bite the bullet. If it's something on her mind. It can't be good. And usually if it's bad for her, it's bad for him.

It's not like he expects things to get suddenly better.

She knows he's doing that which is why she's not continuing to stare at the lock Joker managed to get into. That and she's pretty sure dwelling on that one little thing isn't good for her. When Dick speaks she just glances over at him, giving him a tiny smile before shaking her head.

"It's nothing, really. It's just been a long couple of weeks."

He tilts his head with a raised eyebrow, but doesn't push the subject. He's sure that she'll tell him whatever it is when she needs to or feels like she should. And maybe it just means he can rest a little easier. Not that he's really feeling any less conflicted at the moment.

"Ah. Well, after what I heard about what I missed, I can see why. I'm a little glad I wasn't around at the very least. Things probably would have ended terribly."

She'll tell him. She has to. Eventually. For now she's content to just let him worry about finding his arm. That's bad enough. She and Bucky can handle all this Joker crap. Besides, it's not like he can use his 'berry right now anyway. For now she'll just keep quiet and walk a little bit closer to him.

"You are pretty prone to doing stupid things." An attempt at teasing. Probably a poor one. "You didn't miss anything all that good. Mostly running interference and bullshit piled on top of bullshit." So basically pretty standard things for them.

He'll just stay blissfully ignorant.

"Hey. I do a lot of smart things to negate all the stupid things I do." Kind of. He tends to have pretty stupid ideas that seem to work out somehow. Maybe he's just really good at executing really stupid plans. "Wonderful. I'm just so thrilled about it." So much sarcasm.

That's probably the best way, sadly.

"And then you do more stupid things to negate the smart things. It's like a vicious cycle. But you're cute so I suppose that can be excused." She just wants you to cheer up a little bit, Dick. "You don't have to worry about it. Bucky and I can take care of all of it." Mostly, at least.

"If the only thing I have going for me is being cute, I need to rethink my life a little." He shakes his head lightly. "You know if you need help though, I'm around. Even if the amount of help I can give at the moment is...not very much."

He really hates this week.

"Of course that's not the only thing, Dick. I was teasing you." Okay, this is going to be harder than she thought. "I wouldn't spend so much time around you if you were just cute." And then she sighs. Maybe not telling him would be worse. It definitely wouldn't help with the whole "I'm useless" thing he has going on.

"There's something, actually. But I know if I tell you you're just going to get even more stressed out than you already are. And I also know that you're a big boy and don't need me to protect your feelings but..."

He's practically spent a good amount of his time rolling around aimlessly. That's all you can really do without arms.

"Well. Would knowing it do me any good now or later? If it has to do with the network, I might be better off knowing later. I can't do anything with my 'berry." Although his curiosity is piqued now. But he knows that his curiosity has gotten him into less then enjoyable moments. And well, maybe he should take this time to try and de-stress.

"That's what I was thinking. I guess I just felt guilty keeping it from you." She doesn't want you to feel useless because you aren't. Please just start being less sad. "Maybe I'll wait until next week to tell you. It's really not that important right now, I guess."

"You're just trying to make things easier for me. I'm acting childish right now." But he has no arms. It's hard not to feel like you can't do anything. "If you say so. Hopefully next week doesn't involve the loss of limbs or something else."

"You've always been way too hard on yourself." And sometimes, he deserves it. But in this case he doesn't. After everything that's happened to him lately, it's surprising that he's even still functioning. "Hopefully. But I also wouldn't be surprised if it was something worse."

"I don't know about that. I still feel like I don't try hard enough." Even though he's probably walking that tight rope between breaking and staying sane. But he's walked it for quite awhile now.

"I wouldn't either. This place likes to be a constant nuisance."

"I'd probably have to disagree with that." She would really like it if you didn't snap and go insane. That would be the best thing you could ever give her.

"I guess we won't know until it happens."

"I knew you would," he replies back softly. And don't worry about him going insane. He hasn't gone insane yet, he won't ever. Hopefully.

"That's how this place likes to work."
