Emilia wasn't probably expecting a strong arm to hoist her back up to her feet. The grip was firm, but surprisingly gentle, not meaning to pull her up too roughly. "I thought you would like assistance of some kind."
Steve kept his hand on her arm just in case she might fall again. "If you're trying to get somewhere, I'm more then willing to help you get there. I wouldn't want you to hurt yourself in this mud." Going through the war had made getting through mud relatively easy. He was much more careful with his wrist still healing, but he found that navigating through it wasn't too much trouble.
She held onto his arm in return, finding him reassuringly solid. Judging by the bicep by her shoulder he could probably carry her to the cafeteria if she simply hung limp. That would be undignified, however, so she settled for leaning some of her weight on him in place of the cane. The last rhing she wanted was for him to think she was silly.
"I'm on my way to the cafeteria, if you wish to join me." she flushed slightly after speaking. It sounded awfully forward to say that to a man, even if it was only as an invalid to her rescuer.
"Oh, I do apologize. I didn't mean to. I just couldn't let you stay in the mud like that. I guess my response was impulsive to help you up as soon as possible." He gives her an apologetic smile.
"I don't see why not. I'm not doing anything at the moment and I'd enjoy joining you." He doesn't seem at all bothered with the request, and even starts moving to assist her to the cafeteria. "It's much better then staying in those rooms at the moment. At least, I think so."
"I'm glad you've agreed. A meal is far more agreeable when it's eaten with company, even if it's only the bars." She smiled up at him grateful for the support as she walked. It was far easier to move when she knew that a slip would be compensated for.
The journey to the cafeteria was far faster with a bit of help, which was a good thing in Emilia's eyes. Her belly was threatening to growl and that wasn't something she wanted Steve to hear.
"Perhaps I should gather up some extra bottles while I'm here. Once I've drunk the water I could refill them to use for sluicing off my feet."
"I suppose the bars don't bother me too much. Food wasn't always that great while on the field. But company is nice to have. I don't usually see people eating in the cafeteria." He made sure to keep his grip firm but gentle. He didn't want her slipping up again!
"It would be good to bring some of the bars back too, so you don't have to make as many trips back here. I can assist you with carrying anything back of course."
"Thank you. I'm sure you can carry far more than I'm able to." She looked down at the arm she was clinging to, admiring his hand. Hers were on the small side, even for a woman, but his were large and sturdy. They reminded her of when she'd woken up in Haven after being murdered. Mostly, she remembered the pain, but along with that was how Steve tended to her. His hands had been surprisingly gentle for such a strong man.
"Perhaps before, but you might be able to carry more then I can now. I'm slightly handicapped at the moment." He hopes that the cafeteria tables are at least in a condition where they can seat themselves and eat. He's not sure just how deep the mud is in the cafeteria. "But I'd like to help in anyway possible, regardless."
"It's just the week when the traps occurred. I received some nerve damage, but Tsunade has been quite nice and has been helping me with it. You need not to worry yourself about it too much." He just gives her a soft smile. You can see the permanent marker seal on his arm though. Leave it to Harry to use something like a permanent marker to do these things.
"Is there anything I can do to help? Anything at all." Emilia was sincere in her offer and to show it she slipped of of his arm when they entered the cafeteria, tottering over to the vending machines. She wasn't about to make Steve carry anything more than he had to, with one arm out of commission.
"Would you like food and water?" She asked, smiling proudly at the fact she managed to make it over without slipping.
"I think I'm alright for the most part. I guess the most I really need help with is small things that usually requires two hands. Bucky helps me get dressed though. I couldn't ask you to help me with that. It would be unbecoming of me." He follows her just in case. He wouldn't want her falling and hurting herself.
Emilia flushed at the idea of that and busied herself with collecting the bars to hide it.
"I could tie your tie or straighten your jacket, if you needed it done. My Father's needed it more than enough times. I'll leave the rest to Bucky, though."
She turned carefully, holding out her full hands.
"Speaking of clothes, do you have any pockets I could place these in? If I'd been sensible I'd have put on my apron before coming out to carry these all in."

"You startled me." She told him, mildly reproaching. "But thank you."

"Oh Steve, what happened?" She asked, mentally kicking herself for not noticing before.

He takes some of the items in her hand so he can pocket them in his trousers. "I do have pockets on these pants. I can carry them. Anyway I can help."

"I can help bring anything back for you then."
