When Kenzi awoke from a dreamless sleep she'd had no say in, she was chained to a chair with her left arm trapped in some sort of metal contraption. There was a cage directly across from her all iron bars and circular and containing her roommate. A large cylinder sat on top of the cage with wires coming out of it and heading up into the ceiling. Numbers were painted on three walls of the room in a chaotic fashion and there was a note sitting in her lap.
She'd known it would happen. There was no avoiding it. Making them wait this long was cruel and so typical of Val and the interns.
Kenzi grabbed the note and held it tightly in her free hand. "Connie! Connie, wake up!" How a vampire could sleep through this, she'd never know.
