He had left to get food, the same food he had been forcing her to eat over the past few days. For some reason, Soul had hoped that maybe, somehow, she'd have come to her senses when he'd get back. There Maka would be, sitting up and at least a little like her old self.

He stopped in the doorway when he saw her still laying there, Soul sighed and strode over to his dresser and dumped the food on it before texting Roxas and Allen to come over. This couldn't go on another day.

Texts sent, Soul slipped his hands into his pockets. "So, this is it, huh? You're done?"

She was aware of Soul returning, and she heard his words, but she didn't respond. Maka wasn't in the mood to argue. She wasn't really in the mood to speak at all, so she just kept her gaze on the wall.

Roxas got there fast, telling Axel he was gonna go talk to Maka and hurrying to her room as quickly as he could.

Maka had been acting this way for weeks- though maybe not this bad-- and he'd thought maybe Soul coming back would help but it hadn't and that hurt in the hollow part of himself that wasn't supposed to feel. She was his friend and she'd barely been herself lately and the last thing Roxas wanted to see her do was give up.

He came to the open doorway and knocked twice on the frame to let Soul know he was there, gaze focused on Maka's prone form.

Once Allen came in, Soul locked the door. Who knew how intense this may become and he didn't want to leave an escape up to chance.

"Enough's enough, Maka. We can't keep watching you do this."

Maka sat up when she head the door click, wondering what Soul was doing. It was only then that she noticed the two other figures in the room. At first her heart dropped because if they were all here, there must be bad news. It wasn't until she realized they were all staring at her that she understood what they were doing.

"I don't know what you want me to do." Was all she said in response to Soul's words.

"That's not the point," Roxas told her softly, frowning. He didn't know where to start-- what to say to get Maka to respond, get up and smile like he used to.

It hurt, he thought, even if he couldn't feel it all way.

"I can only imagine what you're going through, and we get that you're hurt. But, here's how I see it. We're clones trapped in this horrible place with no way out, yea, but we're the only ones who know each other. You give up and lay down and die, then that's one last person who's gunna remember the Jet that lived here. The one who tried his best to fight against all the messed up things that go on. It'll be like he never existed and everything he and you ever stood for won't mean anything."

She dismissed all of the words. All of them until something Soul said almost inspired anger in her.

"This isn't about Jet." She clenched her fists, and barely refrained from storming away.

"It is too!" Roxas cut in a little more loudly, fists clenching at his sides. "It's about every single person that's died that you cared about. Don't you think they would want you to keep going? I know it's hard when people leave. It-- hurts, and I can't even feel it all the way, so it has to be worse for you. But what do you think they'd say if they came back and saw you like this?"

"And besides..."

Soul struggled for another point not already hit, anything.

"Giving up and laying around is wasting days you could still spend with us still here. I mean. Don't you care about Roxas? Allen? Me? I don't know how long I'm gunna be here, or them, or you. While I'm here, I'll be damned if I'm going to let a day go by without doing something knowing that there's no garentee there's another for any of us. Giving up on yourself and laying down and dying is saying we're not worth fighting for either."

Roxas was right. It was about Jet, but it wasn't only about Jet. It was about everyone who had been taken. Every friend she hadn't even been able to bury because their ashes were lying scattered in the Biodome.

But she was tired of carrying on for them and it was too hard. She couldn't do it anymore. Maka would have voiced that aloud if Soul's words hadn't cut her off mid thought.

His words hurt. They were the only truth that kept her from going to Tyki and asking to go through with what he'd offered.

"I don't mean...I can't...that's not fair. You can't say that. You gave up on me. You left me." The last part is directed only at Soul.

"Maka," Roxas' voice was low, almost dangerous, "that's not fair to say and you know it. It's not under his control."
