[When he wakes, the room isn't how he and Steve left it. In fact, it's not their room at all. Bucky feels strangely groggy, and puts a hand to his temple as he sits up, groaning softly. It only takes moments to get his head together and take stock of the room layout. Empty, except for a safe on a table, heavily padlocked. One door, thick and likely barricaded, with a digital display above it that reads 1:00:00.
One hour. One hour for what?
And Steve is there. Why is Steve there, too? His mind is racing as his eyes scan the room again. Nothing else except for a piece of paper taped to the safe. A note.
"You survived together for years, you died together in the waters of the Channel. Your lives are linked - that link will be tested today. Bucky has been injected with a slow-acting poison, the antidote to which is in this safe. He has approximately an hour before the poison shuts down his organs. The door to this room will open in exactly an hour and and a half, but only if both of you are alive when that time comes.
To find the key to the safe and save both your lives, Steve, you must show you're willing to give up something he lost a long time ago."]
