Inside, the fortress is littered with the corpses of Reavers and bloodstains marking where the facility rats fell. Outside, twisted heaps of hoverbikes lay where they'd been blown from the sky.
The night was filled with cries, both of those too hurt to do anything more, and those trying to comprehend what they'd just lived through.

He stood in the doorway of the bedroom he'd named Command Centre, his gun in his hand. The Reaver he'd shot was still lying outside the door, groaning feebly. There was blood bubbling from it's ruin of a chest. The sound was terrible.
He raised his gun and shot once more. Blood spattered as it's skull blew apart.
It was Komui's first kill and it left him shaking so badly he could hardly stand.

Her voice resembled a machine, falling back on old training. "Status."

"We've driven out all the ones who could run. Severe casualties in this section, lighter damage across the road. No supplies were taken, but our ammunition won't last another battle."
He drops his gun into his pocket so he could wipe his hair back with both hands.
"We need to find the breach. Casualties need trating. We need to dispose of the bodies before the rot sets in. Or we could burn this house down. We don't need the extra space."

Because if she never had to see any of these walls again, that was just fine with her. "We had a casualty in the clinic, but we were able to hold for the most part. I have no idea where the breach was from yet, I didn't have time to look."

He gestures to the blood spatters throughout the hall, pointing to where people fell.
"Did they come from one direction, or both?"

He steps over the body, looking back and forth up the hall.
"This was the wrong choice. We should have scattered and hid. I made this place a target."
Reply
"You think a better solution was to yell for everyone to hide and fend for themselves? Don't be a moron and don't start this. We have jobs to do."
Reply
"You're right. We need to check for survivors. The rooftops should be empty, but just in case..."
He turns away from her and walks up the hallway.
"Come, please. You've got better eyes than me."

Tsunade staggered after him, forcing herself along through brute will. Survivors would need care, and she still had her medical skills.

"You're injured." His voice is dulled. "You should go..." He was about to order her to the clinic, thoughtlessly.
"Go in here. I'll look at it." He stepped back into the little command room, leaving the door open.

"Sit in the chair." He hesitated for a moment, trying to remember what he wanted, before going to the desk an opening a drawer. He'd put a few medical supplies in all of the rooms, just in case. Out came bandages, a bottle of sterile water and a small vial of disinfectant.
"It's filthy here. You might get an infection."
