Where: The biodome
Summary: Death is holding a memorial for everyone who's been terminated at the facility, to give those here now a chance to grieve and to see if she can do something for whatever traces of the dead may remain in the 'dome. This is an open log, so ( Read more... )

[He's alone.

But there are many people he misses, and many he never met, and perhaps, where they ended up after termination, was somewhere where they missed the group still here in turn.

... What caught his eye, though, was that he was on it.]

... That's...

[Didi pads up softly beside him, making nearly no noise on her bare feet. She speaks in a whisper]

I don't mean to alarm you with that. There are those that were terminated and returned... I did not wish to leave them from the memorial, since it was uncertain if they were the same, with erased memories, or another entirely.

I hope you understand.

No, I... get it.

I don't remember being here before. That me is dead.

... thank you for all of this.

I can only hope this might begin to make up for my absence in this place for so long.

You're welcome.

... Will this thing be here for a long time?

I certainly hope so. I will maintain it, and I hope that there will be someone to carve the names of the recently terminated into it should I myself die.

It will be here as long as it can be. I cannot promise forever, but I can hope.

I'd be willing to work on the names, if you ever need it.

[He smiles, quietly, down to the block.]

It doesn't have to be forever. As long as we all remember is enough.

That would be sweet of you, Riku. I can certainly handle it for now, but if ever I was to be put on the memorial myself, someone else would need to take care of it.

[She nods]

Until we escape. Just as a reminder.

I will.

... Will you be able to maintain it through resets? You might have to keep it in your room, like Sora has to disassemble his zipline every week.

Ah. Thank you for telling me.

[She smiles, and touches the memorial. It simply disappears, without much fanfare.]

Well, that wasn't too difficult.

[She puts it back]

I can do that.

[He blinks down at the stone, then up to Didi, and chuckles a little.]

Showoff.

I'm sorry? I didn't think I was trying to show off.

[She runs a hand through her hair]

No, if I was trying to show off I'd just do this.

[She flops back, as if sitting down on a particularly comfy chair, but she just hangs there, in the air.]

Now then.

[And there's a little grin on his face as he plops down, on the grass beside her.]

You've got convenient powers.

They're not really powers, I don't think. It's just more like....

Rules invented by humans to govern the world only optionally apply to me. I see no need to follow them exactly.

Wouldn't that be considered a power, though? For mortal beings like myself, those rules are impossible not to follow. Having a choice at all is a power, I think.
