Alessa was only vaguely aware, lost as she was in the nightmare her twin had carefully created for her. It felt like she was back in the sickroom. Every breath was agonizing, a century, unnatural, and should be her last. But it's not.
So she stays lying on the ground. Her neck was getting sore from staying in that fetal position for so long, but she didn't mind. The phantom burns on her hurt the worst.
