[Kanaya really likes snow, so she's hanging around quite happily after her various snowball fights. Taking a chance to catch her breath, she settles into a spot beside one of the large trees. Her hands move slowly, as she works on building a small, smiling snowman.]
[but oh no, the wily Vriska is planning her strike. she's been plotting this for a while, really. for as long as there's been snow. trying to keep the snow from crunching under her feet too loudly, she sneaks up on Kanaya with a snowball in hand.]
[and suddenly, and without warning, chucks it headwards.]
[Kanaya is no match for the wily Vriska, especially when she's caught entirely by surprise. The snow smacks her in the back of the head, drawing a startled gasp from her lips. What the!? She whips around, holding her hands up to cover her face in case of more snow, but she's basically a sitting duck.]
[Snow is definitely playing, unless Vriska somehow turns it into an icy death march. A little competition isn't a bad thing, if they keep it friendly.]
Robot arms are cheating!
[Kanaya is rather suspicious of this free shot, but she reaches down for a snowball anyway, not taking her eyes off Vriska.]
I don't believe in free shots! [After a moment, she pitches the snowball her way--then follows it up with another, grabbed roughly from her half-finished snowman.]
[she laughs as the snowball pegs her just above her stomach and only then does she bend down and start making another one. it's a dumb mistake to make but she takes her eyes off Kanaya while she's doing it.]
It feels like forever since I've gotten to do this.
[that's when the second one gets her right between the horns. she shakes out her rat's nest and laughs again, lobbing the ball she just finished making from her stoop in Kanaya's direction.]
[Kanaya, meanwhile, has wasted no time in looking for cover. She knew that one snowball wouldn't deter Vriska for long! Fortunately, she was still near one of the trees, so she half-ducks behind it before kneeling to make another snowball.]
I've never had a proper snowball fight... [She calls out as she packs another snowball, building a small stash of tightly packed snow.] But I think I'm learning from today!
[yeah that thing she lobbed at Kanaya is not even going to come close to hitting her, is it. oh well, that's why there is more snow everywhere. she peers up and wonders just what her friend is doing back there.]
Snowball fights are the same as regular fights. Hit hard and hit fast and you're bound to win. [she bends down again and makes another, but decides to hold on to it while she talks so she can get a clear shot.] Hell, I'm so good at them you might as well just give up now! [she tosses the ball up and down in her hand intimidatingly.]
[Hiding and planning! Taking on Vriska headfirst is probably pretty pointless--Kanaya doesn't have much experience with lobbing projectiles around. But with six or seven snowballs and decent cover, maybe she can be the snowy victor.]
What about stealth, preparedness, and a good defense? [She peeks out from behind the tree, her horns a rather obvious target. There's a snowball in her hand, but she's waiting for Vriska to throw her own before she starts her offense.]
[she doesn't waste more than a second or two aiming the shot towards Kanaya's horn before she lets the snowball finally fly. and naturally she's back on the ground before it even hits and precariously balancing on the balls of her feet while she gathers more ammunition. why, one well-placed tap could knock her flat on her ass from this position.]
Yes, well, I've been known to dabble in the art of losering.
[But really, she's just trying to maintain a distracting amount of conversation. As soon as Vriska throws her attack, Kanaya ducks back behind the tree. Once the threat of snow has passed, she starts her counter-volley. One, two, three, fourfivesixseven, suddenly snowballs are wildly flying towards Vriska. They're barely aimed, but a couple will definitely hit. It occurs to her that she threw seven snowballs. Taking a moment, she chucks one more hastily-formed snowball her way. Eight!]
[distraction negoti8ed! Vriska only sees the last couple coming, but she definitely gets slammed by three of them, two on her jacket and one smack dab in the center of her face as she looked up to react to the first two.]
Damn it Kanaya!
[oh hey there's an eighth one. she has to smile a little at that despite having a suddenly cold face.]
That's it, I'm done playing on easy mode.
[she bends down and scoops up a huge armful of snow, then starts running over to where Kanaya is. her goal, obviously, is to dump the whole load on her moirail's head. it's all in good fun. really!]
[Oh yes, she's laughing quite hard as Vriska runs her way. It doesn't look like she's going to dodge at all, and she's not. But if Vriska dumps that snow on her, she better be ready to have Kanaya tackle her while covered in snow.]
["if" is looking more and more like "when" because Vriska's basically right there and oops, there goes the armload of snow. all over Kanaya. really, she shouldn't make it so easy on Vriska, but of course Kanaya could never have any other plan and Vriska can be content to revel in her brilliance.]
[Does tackle-hugging-shoving Vriska qualify as a plan? It probably shouldn't (unless Vriska has really low standards for plans), but Kanaya thinks it's an excellent form of snowy vengeance. She's laughing the whole time, unrestrained for once.]
[whether or not it qualifies as a plan barely matters once it's in motion because Vriska is actually laughing right there with her, even as she falls backwards into the snow. this is one fight she'd be glad to throw if it came to that. not that she's considering it over quite yet.]

Oh come on, Kanaya, it's snowing! Be glad I didn't use my other arm.
[she probably should have. her hand is surprisingly cold now.]
Come on, fight back. I'll give you a free shot on me.
