Shikamaru walked to the door in even strides, glad to be freed of the hobbling pace he'd been forced to adopt the week before. Tsunade's healing had taken his leg to about ninety percent again, so no one could whine at him about how pathetic his hobbling was.
Not that he looked much better this week. His arm was splinted and bound to his chest, most of the bandaging (including the still blood stained ones stretching onto his back) covered by one of Kanda's large exorcist jackets.
He opened the door, a mildly annoyed expression on his face, and looking mussed as if he'd just rolled himself out of bed. "What did you want?"
Willow drew her hand back and slapped him straight across the face. "Can't you even keep your mouth shut for ten minutes?!" She shouted angrily. "You understand what it's like to loose someone! And after that you still couldn't keep your mouth shut!" she finished.
There was a moment of silence before she looked at him. "Oh my god! I'm so sorry!" she said wanting to hug him. "Did Allen do that to you?! Is that why you're all I want to kill him..." she said lamely finishing.
Shikamaru's head whipped to one side, the stinging in his cheek registering before his brain could figure out exactly what had happened. It didn't hurt really, not like other things had already this week, but he hadn't expected the blow.
He barely heard her words after the slap, using all his willpower not to haul off and smack her back. He'd never hear the end of it if he hit a girl in this place. "Yeah, that's why I'm all wanting to kill him," he replied after a few moments, tone sarcastic.
"I'm so sorry Shikamaru!" she said flustering. She attempted to walk into the room. "I'm really really sorry" she kept repeating. "I can try and heal you, if you want me too that is," she said making a small flappy movement with her arms.
"Sorry. I just go so angry and you were being all... and Folken yesterday..." she finished lamely.
Shikamaru moved to one side and let Willow enter, careful to keep his left side out of her flailing radius. He studied the red-head for a few moments before shaking his head and shutting the door behind them. "Whatever. At least you had the guts to bring your issues to me directly."
There was no way he was going to get any healing from Tsunade, not after what he'd said. He really should've thought that one through a little more. The shinobi didn't want to show his wounds to more people than he had to, but he didn't want them to scar either. Normally a scar wouldn't bother him, but this time...
"What can you do about lacerations?" he asked in a clippd tone, avoiding eye contact with her.
Willow walked in and began to think aloud, muttering words to herself and imagining what ways in which she help Shikamaru. "How deep?" she asked taking off her jacket and looking to Shikamaru for her answer.
She wondered if the feather she had pinned to her blouse could help her in this situation.
"Clear to the bone in most places," he said bluntly, shrugging off his borrowed jacket with his good arm and draping it over the edge of the desk before turning his back to Willow. The bandages on his back and arm hadn't been changed since Kakashi had first dressed them, and so they had bled through, a brown/red, blotchy imitation of the letters carved into the skin underneath.
He took a deep breath before settling backwards in the desk chair, swallowing his pride and letting the witch have a closer look at the bandages and injuries if she chose.
Willow stared at Shika's back in somewhat horror. She immediately knew that she had to call down a goddess to heal this bad a wound. "I just hope that I can get it healed. My powers at this level aren't going to be enough on there own. But it's going to be difficult without any ingredients. I just hope they're all still listening to me." She said biting her lip.
Shikamaru almost wanted to scoff at them mention of gods or goddesses. It was laughable, in his opinion and in this place, to count on the help of any sort of higher power. He was never one to put much stock in that sort of thing himself, and no matter how Willow's world or magic worked, he doubted anyone was watching over them here.
Shikamaru fidgeted a little, waiting for the witch to do something. He knew the wounds looked bad (they didn't feel particularly good either), and his constant moving around hadn't done much to help either. They'd begun to knit together some beneath the skin, but if Willow couldn't manage something pretty impressive and he didn't get some other kind of healing, it was likely that they would scar anyway.
Willow looked at his back. "I've had an idea, but it may not work. I need something that can make a mark on the carpet. Anything'll do really." She left the room and returned with one of the bars of soap, and drew a symbol on the ground. "That should work..." She said looking up at Shikamaru. "Stand there please. And I warn you this might hurt." She finished, sitting cross legged behind him.
Shikamaru watched Willow mark up the floor, almost curious, before moving into the position she pointed him in. "Can't hurt any worse than the original injury did," he replied with half a shrug. After the week he'd had, the Nara was fairly confident in his pain tolerance.
"Panaceia flow through my words. Goddess, channel your power through my body, Panaceia flow through my words, Goddess, channel your power through my body. Cleanse these wounds, Knit his flesh. Leave no mark. Panceia, flow through my words."
Willow chanted until Shikamaru's back was fully healed. She ended her spell, and felt the power drain away from her. She gasped for breath and fainted, falling back from her position to lay on the floor, sweating slightly.
Shikamaru gritted his teeth, honestly surprised as he felt his wounds begin to close. It was an indescribable feeling, like something flowing through him that he'd never experienced before. Not like chakra. Something else. Something very foreign
( ... )
An hour passed before Willow stirred. She sat up very slowly, and immediately put her hand to her nose to catch the blood that was leaking out. Taking a tissue from her pocket she held it to her nose and grabbed at her head in pain. "Remind me to never try that in here again..." she said with a very weak very faint smile.
"At least it worked?" She asked looking around to see if Shika was still in the room.
Shikamaru stirred from where he'd been napping (a rare privilege in this place), leaning his back against one side of the couch. It had been a good sleep, probably the deepest rest he'd managed to get in this place since the beginning. He wasn't sure if it had anything to do with Willows magic, or if the overall feeling of calm and tolerance was related, but he'd go with it.
"It did," he replied simply, staring at the floor. "I see you're alive.%Pr
"Just barely it feels like." she said smiling at him, and mopping up her nose some more. She smiled at Shika. "So, feeling a little less grouchy now that your back isn't shredded to pieces?" she said, attempting to stand, and falling pathetically back down on the sofa. "Okay. Too dizzy to stand up." she stated dizzily.
She pulled her legs up onto the sofa and looked over to Shikamaru, smiling at him as the room behind him span.
