It was dark and had been for some time by now. Kadaj had all but lost track of the time, and had ignored his mind and body's longing. With his powers unleashed, he could ignore the need for food and sleep longer. Could fight his forced humanity so much easier. But it was really all in vain. Even Sephiroth himself- who he and his brothers were born from- was centrally human.
He was more aware of the workings of this place than he was that of his own home Planet's. He barely even thought of that place. After all, Mother had wanted to be rid of it anyway- why should he long for something such as that? This world, and the worlds of the other subjects seemed so much more interesting to him. The Remnant had lost his brothers, had felt the pain of losing a loved one. After that, he knew that he wouldn't inflict the same pain on someone else if he could help it. It had taught him regret; this walking in an other's shoes...
But tonight, his own pain and grief were the only things on his mind. How could his brothers- his own flesh and blood!- not understand this? They hadn't experienced it, hadn't grown attachments among the others. Maybe wouldn't. No, they had each other. They would never know what it was like to be vulnerable and terrified and alone for months. And for the first time, he knew resentment towards his brothers. In the darkness of an alley way with his slumbering behemoth of a bike nearby, Kadaj- who had told his brothers so often 'not to cry', wept and longed for comfort that he wouldn't allow himself.
