Who: Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown When: Saturday night Where: Steph's room Summary: Steph and Cass decide to meet alone for some girl time. Rating: PG-13 just to be safe Warnings: EXTREME GIRLINESS POSSIBLE
Steph answered the door as promptly as she could while trying not to step on any tribbles. There were only five left in her room, purring on the floor. True to her word, she had hidden the bat suit away in a desk drawer and was just wearing a white tank top and pajama pants.
Tonight was a night for forgetting.
"Hey, Cass!" There was an instant hug as soon as the door was open. Hug deprivation could really get to a girl.
Cass returned the hug, not wanting Steph to succumb to the horrors of hug deprivation (the symptoms of which are moping, possible heel turns, and Frank Miller-esque inner monologues) either.
"I'm glad... you're okay," she said with a warm smile reserved only for people Cass really, really liked.
That list of people that saw that smile was most likely very, very short. Steph returned it eagerly and gestured towards the couches in the common area.
"I'm not sure where my roomies are, but they're really nice. You met them the other--- So there's a bunch of fuzzies in the bathroom because Resishun really loves them and I wouldn't go in there if I were you. We've been using a bathroom in another suite. Who are your roomies anyway?"
Cass flopped down on one of the couches. Her smile faltered almost imperceptibly when Steph almost mentioned the Black Mask incident, but Steph recovered well and Cass attempted to smile even more eagerly so her friend wouldn't get upset.
"Don't know. Haven't met them." Steph knew how much of a social butterfly Cass was.
Steph curled up beside her bffaeae and turned on the TV.
"If they're total jerks, you can just chill here with us. It will be lonely with the fuzzies. I have to find someone with nail polish around here..."
Maybe Grell had a stash of makeup. He seemed like the type. She'd have to remember to ask him about that later, and to not bring up Tim in the conversation.
"Thanks," she said, already more at ease than she's been in a long time. "Be fine. As long as they're... not crazy." Which was a distinct possibility around this place.
She smiled wryly as Steph mentioned nail polish. "Holding up... without it?" she inquired.
"Hahaha! Just barely. My nails are so bare and empty. I don't know how I get up in the morning. Thank god my toothbrush appeared here, at least. I guess nail polish isn't considered a necessity."
She was beyond happy that Cass was joking and smiling. It had been too long since they had had something to laugh about. Longer for Steph, apparently.
Cass looked at Steph's nails. Then looked at her own ragged, broken nails from punching things too often. And then looked back at Steph's. "Look... fine to me." Though they could use some eggplant-colored flair.
It's been so long since Cass has been able to spend time with Steph that didn't involve a near-death experience that she's come to appreciate every moment she has with the girl. If only there were rooftops in the facility so they could finally complete the Rooftop Tag semifinals...
She grinned mischievously. Bring on the pillows, Steph!
Steph took the unspoken cue to get the pillows and the most epic pillow fight ever was started. Even a few Tribbles got thrown around before they disappeared the next night. Any room mates that walked in on the extreme pillow fight would get whalloped and brought into it as well.
Just for the record, if anyone asked, Steph totally let Cass win. That's totally how it went down.

And fast talkin' Steph was back.

"I do, however, have plenty of pillows."
