Eclipse rounded the corner back to the street where they were living during their stay in this city. He had a book for Raenef, it was a novel on the undead creatures which infested this city, but it was still a book and if Raenef wanted a book, any book, Eclipse would be happy to oblige ( ... )

"Eclipse!" Raenef cried, standing up at seeing his tutor. A few butterflies took off in his stomach when he realized Eclipse hadn't used any titles with his name, and he gave the older demon a cheery smile.

"Did you get a book? I found one too, the one I showed you. It says so much! These zombies are weird."

"Yes, I found a book. I believe that this place is plagued with zombies often, at least that is what I gather from this." He took the book from within his cloak as he reached Raenef. "With these two books you should be able to discover what it is that you want to know." It pleased Eclipse that Raenef wanted to learn, even if it was about...zombies. Eclipse was not too fond of the creatures. They were tasteless, dead and rotting.

Giving up on staying in one place, Raenef ran over to Eclipse and was hugging him before he really thought about it.

"Thanks, Eclipse!" It was muffled by the robe, but Raenef's gratitude was more for the demon coming back than anything else. He was really worried about everyone with all these zombies around. Eclipse was amazing, but even he could get overwhelmed if 50 or so undead creatures attacked him.

It had the blonde's nerves on end. (And maybe this was just another excuse to hug Eclipse, all he'd wanted to do since a week ago.)

"The sun's going down, so when the zombies come can we fight some?"

"If you want to," Eclipse returned the hug, internally pleased that his master reacted so to his presence. Ever since his confession... Eclipse had not been able to take his eyes off of the boy whenever he was in his company, which was one reason that he had left him this afternoon.

"Yeah!" Raenef smiled, looking up to meet Eclipse's eyes. "I'm gonna get really good at it, I promise."

The sun was rapidly setting, and, hearing a groan not-so-far in the distance, Raenef turned his head. "Think they're over there? We should go see if the book is right!"

Eclipse was warm, and he didn't really want to leave the safe circle of his arms, but there were dead things to prove himself with.

"Perhaps we should go see," Eclipse looked as well, not releasing Raenef. It was his master's decision when he should be released, was it not?

Raenef nodded and finally pulled away from his tutor, turning determinedly toward the groaning mass.

"Should I just...?" He looked up to Eclipse for reassurance, already calling the required mezraez to the front of his mind. "It won't hurt them, will it?"

"They are already dead, my Lo-- Raenef. I do no think that that allows them to feel pain." His eyes were soft as he gazed at the boy. Who knew that a demon lord could be so kind? Yet again and again Raenef was changing Eclipse's view of how demons should be.

Raenef nodded, determination returning. "Okay! I'll try!"

A focused look at the incoming zombie horde, and the blonde summoned his mezraez, shaping it into what he wanted in his mind. The power built, shimmered slightly in his thoughts, and the first zombie collapsed in a leaking pile of mush.

Raenef blanched and looked away, smiling weakly up at Eclipse. "Was that... good?"

Eclipse smiled at his little master. "Very good, Raenef." Eclipse then focused on the incoming mass as well, his eyes burning into the undead. Another zombie fell, exploding into its fellows. "I believe that we can take them down simply between us."
