It could have been worse. The first two times were surprises, for the most part. This time he was ready.
Of course, it could have been a lot better, too. Waking up shivering with what felt like a towering fever and having to actually take breaks from putting on his clothes because he was getting too frustrated to continue... Yes, the situation could have felt more comfortable.
The idea of breakfast - another one of those bloody nutrition bars - made his stomach do gymnastics, so instead of going to the cafeteria he began to set up. Blackberry, clothes, bedding, and all other supplies inside a drawer, locked by magic so that it could not be opened until sunrise the next day. Similar locking spells on the door. Silencing charms all around. No one could hear him, though he could hear them. Heavy chains conjured from thin air, bolted to the floor. The first rule of transforming into a werewolf in an enclosed space: protect your head. Breaking your wrists and ankles while trying to chew yourself out of chains was better than slamming your head against the door all night long. And now... wand away. No more magic today.
He wouldn't be scared. No, he wouldn't be scared. It was just another transformation, the pain would be over soon, the injuries would not kill him, no one would know the difference. He wouldn't be scared.
But of course, he was scared. He could feel the panic rising in him with each passing second - each second until, somewhere, a full moon would rise to rob him of his sanity. And he couldn't do anything about it but wait... wait for pain and destruction. Oh, God, he couldn't stop it... No, he couldn't be scared...
He jumped as a sound came from outside his door.
