Light lay redolent, as comfortable a king on his throne. He was waiting, waiting for L, of course. A smirk played with the edges of his mouth before subsiding, odd errant thoughts still centering around the last few scraps he'd kept after the debacle that was the previous week. Something like goodwill, something like good sense, and many things that were strategy flitted past that memory. Maybe he was a little insane, these days, he knew that even two months ago, he would have cringed, horrified at his behavior. But now, dressed in his second-best suit, and with his very best laid across the bed beside him - like a lover, the snickering, mocking part of him insisted - the plan was already set.
Waiting for the knock and the entrance of L, Light allowed himself a smug smile. Lawliet wouldn't know what hit him.
