Are you not sleeping well? My aunt used to make lavender tea when my cousins couldn't sleep and I know I've seen some in the greenhouse.

I...um, that would be nice. I would appreciate that.

[ his expression brightens immediately ]

All right. I'll be over soon.

[ and about 20 minutes later, he's over with a bag full of fresh lavender and a teapot under one arm ]

[She answers the door and smiles, stepping back for him.]

I've still got left over cookies too, though they might be a little hard now. Would you like some?

[ aww, how can he knock your baking when you're already feeling down?

Yeah, sounds good. And an empty bowl, if you could? It words best if you take the lavender off the stems, otherwise the tea is bitter.

[ he carries the teapot to the sink to fill it with water ]

[She nods and retrieves the bowl before slipping the cookies into the microwave to soften them up.]

Here you go. [After a pause.] Actually, is there any chance you want to stay for lunch? I prefer cooking for two anyway.

[ he looks momentarily surprised by the offer, but nods. it's funny though, he can't remember ever eating over at Maka's before, but he can't quite figure out why ]

I'd like that. Thanks, Maka.

[ he starts stripping the leaves off and setting them into the bowl ]

So who else had their memories changed this week that you know about? I wonder how Val does that kind of thing... it seems like it'd be hard. Or that people would notice...

[She actually stares at him for a second when he calls her by name. It's not the first time, but it's even more weird in person.]

It's no problem. Cooking for one person is always a pain anyway. Is there anything you don't like?

[Pausing, she considers his question.]

I've noticed a lot more ponies and a few more trolls, and some of the ponies are now human. Axel is from Jet's world, Suki is from some other world, I'm not sure which one, and I'm not really sure about too many other people.

[ a big grin ]

Nah, I can eat anything.

[ unfortunately he thinks Suki's name is Sonia, so he doesn't react much other than to note that he doesn't recognize the name ]

Sounds like a lot of headaches.

[ he finishes cleaning the leaves and divides them up into two mugs, then with a thin stick of chalk, draws a quick transmutation circle on the side of the teapot and touching it with his fingers. almost immediately, the water inside is brought to a rolling boil ]

Alright. [She sets about pulling various ingredients out.]

It would be if I tried to tell anyone they were wrong, but it's a lot easier just to wait it out. [Her eyes widen and she can't help her question.]

How did you do that?

[denyamenti]

That's what I said to Lavi! Although that means I'm going to win this bet at the end of the week.

[ he looks at her in askance ]

Maka, you've seen me do alchemy before. The collars don't dampen little things like this.

[Shoot.]

Right, I just...didn't know you could use it on water like that. I guess it makes sense. Sorry, maybe the lack of sleep is catching up with me.

[ just a simple mistake, he doesn't even give it a second thought ]

Don't worry about it. It reminds me of the first time I tried that! I exploded the teapot and Mother was furious because it had matched the rest of the dishes and she couldn't get another one. I think she had to take it to an actual alchemist to get it fixed, and I was grounded for a week and banned from practicing on any other household items.

[ he winces at the memory, before pouring the boiling water into the mug and adds a touch of honey from the container he finds in the cupboard ]

There you go. By the time it's cooled enough to drink, it'll have steeped enough.

[Maka listens intently, trying to figure out from his descriptions and what she knows of alchemy, what it's actually like in his world. It sounds much nicer than whatever he had lived through in his own and that alone is enough to keep her from saying he's wrong.]

I bet you were a handful. [Grin.]
