I'm sorry, sir, and I mean not to be intruding, but I am not a good one for having nothing to be doing. Machinery... I am not too familiar with, but I have years of working with my hands. If you are needing assistance...

[He blinks] Sasha? [But no. He feels around for his glasses, wanting to see who this person is]

I'll be happy for any assistance.

You too have met my son. You probably know him better than I do, now.

I will be meeting you, then. Hans Nein, at your service, sir.

Komui Lee. Sasha's a very dear friend of mine.

If I remember correctly you're a shoemaker, aren't you? A craftman's eye is not something I'd sniff at.

For nearly forty years, yes. I am no stranger to industrial equipment, either...in recent years a few of Sasha's cousins took over the family business, bright kids. Industrialized the entire thing, a whole factory now. I helped, of course.

Mostly I want to feel as though I am not dead weight.

I don't think you need to be worrying about that, Mister Nein. I've never had a subordinate who hasn't been worked hard.

[papanein]

[Hans will be there, about an hour later, waiting patiently for Komui to arrive.

He's one of those people who are enormous, who should by all rights hulk and take up a huge portion of a room, but who seems like part of the background when he's seen in real life.

He clears his throat when he sees Komui, handing out an enormous hand to shake]

[Komui shakes his hand with a confident grasp, trusting the man not to crush him]

It's a pleasure to meet you in person. Have you had a peek around yet, or shall I give you the tour?

I have seen the workshop, if that is what you're asking, as well as had a glance around the station.

If you wanted to speak with me about something while we worked, I believe my son would be a good...topic of conversation.

I have so many questions....and, well. He is a Nein to the bone. [He laughs humorlessly] We are not, by nature, good at coming to the point quickly.
