On the floor beside him is a tool that was once one of his overly-large drills, but now resembles a beefed-up nightmare of a jackhammer, half the length of his bed.]

Of course you wouldn't mean what I'm thinking. The personified spirit of America lives on the floor above. He's been here for long enough it's normal to hear people speaking of "cooking for America" or "Dealing with America" when referring to him.
